snafu
Where I grew up, nobody had any "subwoofers" - keep in mind, this was 1983 and I lived in SW Missouri. I was down at a shop in Joplin, MO called The Stereo Clinic with my dad. The owner, Tom, told me, "You wanna' hear something?" I was like sure! He took me out to his Honda CVCC and played ZZ Topp "I Need You Tonight" on his system. When the bass kicked in at 35 seconds into the song, I was like MIND = BLOWN. I was 14. Over the next several years, Tom got every single dollar of money I had to spend in an effort to recreate that experience in my '74 Buick Apollo. OH . . . and his system? Jensen cassette deck, 100W x 2 Sunkyong Power Amp, (1) Pair Acoustic Research 6x9s in a custom box with a 12" woofer cone as a passive radiator. Try as I may, I was never able to recreate this experience in my own car and at one time, I had the VERY SAME equipment. Even today, in my Mustang with HX2 18s, it's not the same. This is one of my fondest memories of car stereo, even today. 1 Quote Tony Candela - SMD Sales & Marketing Email me at [email protected] to learn about becoming an SMD Partner! They were powered by 2 us amps us400's. Still one of the loudest setups I've ever heard

2loud4uboyz
First time what got me hooked on bass was. A golf with 4 Rockford 10's, The Punch on a Rockford 150 with punch 45's on Rockford mids and high's . Also the sony L-20's subs and the sony 880's speakers got me hooked on car audio. Broke_Audio_Addict
What got me hooked was my brothers friends always had systems the first one I heard was a couple earthquake 12's in a box with the horns and mids next to them. The one that really set it off though was four Rockford 12's in a isobaric 4th order custom built for the back of a 1990 Ford escort. Shit was brutal for back in the day, made the tape deck skip. First car audio sub I owned was an orion cobalt 10" in the orion bandpass enclosure, Shit got down for one 10" Edited July 2, 2015 by Broke_Audio_Addict Quote That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. aculous
dunno which was first but the notables.... my barber had a competition setup in his toyota solara, JL W7 with Boston Pro Series. Thats what made me get into car audio. Bought some MB Quart stuff when it was actually still made or manufactured in germany. And my buddy rocking two Xtant subs that were loud as hell. (relatively to someone who had never heard a system before) Edited February 17, 2016 by aculous

My dad was a car guy (obviously with that type of car) but also loved his music, so I think it's his fault lol Quote 2011 Nissan Altima aka Red Ruby HEADUNIT: Pioneer AVH X2700BS ELECTRICAL: -Singer 230a -Northstar gr34 -(2) Northstar SMS220 w/ Custom Terminals from 12V Metalworkz -100% Welding Cable FRONT STAGE:-(2 Sets) Hertz HSK165 -Hertz HSK130 -Ampere Audio 125.4 SUB STAGE: -(3) Sundown Audio SA REV2 12's -Ampere Audio 3800.1 V2 MISC (NON AUDIO RELATED): -Interior & Exterior Lights LED -Gloss Black Roof (PAINTED) -15% Front, 5% Rear Tint -Roof Spoiler -20" TSW Snettertons (20x8.5 front, 20x10 rear) -Custom Projector Retrofit (FX-R 3.0, 6.5k HID, Morimoto Mini H1 (faux projector), Quad Starry Night Halos) ----- COMING SOON!! -Aftermarket Fog Lights -Custom Painted Engine Covers My Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/169869-woods-2011-altima-aka-red-ruby-new-video-more-updates/page-109 Retrofit Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/185787-hid-projector-retrofitting-diy-by-wood/#entry2765346
