bus bars: made my own

The new battery came with posts I wasn't used to; Not your typical M6 bolt or SAE top post...So I decided to make my own bus bars. I knew I wanted at least a couple extra spots for more lugs, and I wanted to use thick aluminum ( I already did a pair with copper and it was a little harder to work with).

Here's what I was working with...

took a couple measurements, ordered some 3/8" aluminum, and got to it. I did most of the cutting and grinding at work on my lunch break since I have a hell of a lot more resources there than I do at home. Including a beast of a MIG welder....

through hole on one side, tapped to 1/4-20 on the other....

drilled and shaped the bars..

I opted to JB weld the pieces together and leave them overnight so I could take them to work in the morning and weld them up. This way there was no doubt they wouldn't fit later on....I also clamped a dummy piece the same thickness as the post (5/16") in between the handles so it wouldn't warp from heat...

welded up and rough ground...

not a bad fit...

and this is how they sit now. Spent last night sanding them down to 400 grit and now I'm gonna coat them with Everbrite to make sure they don't oxidize under the hood.
