Broke_Audio_Addict
See my thing is what proof is there that these cheap tools are putting out the tonnage they claim? I find it doubtful that they do especially when you consider the fact that tools that cost many times more don't claim to do the same amount of force. It's also funny that a 5 ton and a 16 ton are the same exact size, come in the same case, and both have no markings on them to indicate how much force they produce. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. poorfish88
Not sure if they lie about crimping power, but mine crimps the lugs and wire into one solid piece of copper. 16 ton
mbdblue
I have the 10 ton. here's my 2 cents....Ironically I was doing this today. The dies that came with my kit weren't cutting it for me. I have over 50' of Execution Audio CCA 1/0 that fits snugly into a 2/0 lug. The "00 AWG" die wasn't big enough for the lug. So I did a little measuring and drilled out one of the other dies that I know I'll never use (12 gauge). Used a 7/16" bit and did a test crimp, then band saw'ed it in half. Came out solid.... So the best answer I could give is testing the tools to make sure they are doing the job. I did the test mostly because I needed a bigger die to work with, but it was a good experience to make sure the crimp was solid. Broke_Audio_Addict
Could you cut one lengthwise since you have a bandsaw and open it up to see what it looks like? I'm a little curious about a couple things and I think that might give me an answer. Pretty sure there's enough meat on the wire side to show something. I can run it through tomorrow. audiolamb6
broke i see what your getting at. and if you think about it when anyone cuts the lugs its going to heat up the wire and not really give you a good idea of what the crimp will look like. just my thoughts on it
