Easter Sunday update:  Tried some things today with settings for comparison.  I love messing around with settings and trying to achieve different things, it's my favorite part, apart from actually listening to loud bass.  Everything is just by seats of the pants, to the ear type shit so nothing scientific here....Anyway,

Last summer: 2 DC 5k @0.67 each on 12 FI X series w/ BP option.  Gain overlap -6 (I landed there trying all sorts of different overlaps using DD-1+)

Currently: 3 DC 5k @1.0 each on 12 FI X series w/BP option

Of course all amps are gained matched using CC-1 and LPF set to 80 and Infrasonic set to 20 for this test (normally I keep it either 25 or 28 but I wanted a little more range when doing initial set up for the summer).  As far as ratings go I have 15k RMS in amps running to 9k RMS worth of subs (BEFORE rise).  Electrical is 100% the same, literally.

I wanted to see if It sounded the same, louder, cleaner, etc. from last summer by changing ohm loads and adding an amp.  The percentage that the subs were overpowered stayed generally the same.  Damping factor (cone control) is a little better with the 3 amps at 1.0 than 2 amps at 0.67.  With 3 amps and gain overlap set at 0 it was definitely cleaner sounding (not muddy?)  but no where near as loud.  Shooting right to -7 overlap from there it sounded louder (and moved my interior panels more)  but seemed easier to start clipping so I backed it down some.  With basically the same gain overlap as before (-6) it sounds about the same...Tried -5 but seemed like there was more in it and it never clipped....Unfortunately I cant tell if it's cleaner or not running at 1.0 from 0.67 and it sounds close to the same for loudness.  Of course I didn't meter it some all this means nothing...  So basically the only change as far as I can tell in this daily ground pounder is that electrical holds a little better running 3 amps at 1.0 each as opposed to 2 amps at 0.67 each...whether that is worth the cost of an extra dc 5k is debatable.  The amps are rated at 1 ohm and I knew running below rated ohm load can really draw on electrical so it was interesting to see how much, 10k at 0.67 or 15k at 1.0.  I used to get into the 12's pretty easy and see high 11's when digging and digging but now it seems like I actually hit a small wall again when hitting battery resting voltage, and digging and digging brings me about 1 whole volt higher than before.  This current set up should be easier on ALL gear, electrical, amps, subs, etc.  but was harder on the wallet, lol.

Electrical: two charging systems, stock alt runs stock electrical.  Audio charging system is 1 Mechman 370 Elite powers only the substage, 2 runs of 2/0 OFC from alt to underhood battery XS Power D3400, then 3 runs of 2/0 OFC run to back of Tahoe where 8 XS Power XP3000's sit.  4 runs of 2/0 OFC grounded right to the frame on separate spots in back.

LOL, you kids.  I want big subs again.  I am known as the 15's guy normally.  I had never run 10" before.  Rarely ever run 12".  Mainly run 15" and have run 18" and it's time for me to go back.

Thinking about 2 Team (FI, AA, Sundown) 18's on 2 DC 5K's at 1 ohm each

or 4-15" Mayhems with each amp at 0.5 ohms

Definitely NEED to get my mids/highs going tho really...been lacking in that department for years....
