Ron36
Is strapping 2amps at 2.6ohms more efficient then running 1 at .6ohms 2022 Ford Maverick on 22’s Skar SK1500.1 on 4 Skar VD-8’s Mids Sundown Super tweeters, Skar TX 6.5 components on Skar SKM400.4 LC2 for audio control , XS Power D680 XS Series Extra Battery
Broke_Audio_Addict
Well considering each amp would only be seeing a 1.3 ohm load, in theroy it should be yes. This is assuming every other variable remained the same. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. Ron36
I would think it would be better on my electrical, that’s what I’m going for but is it a big difference, I know going from just .6ohms to 2.6 would be great on my electrical but I’m also adding another amp. 2022 Ford Maverick on 22’s Skar SK1500.1 on 4 Skar VD-8’s Mids Sundown Super tweeters, Skar TX 6.5 components on Skar SKM400.4 LC2 for audio control , XS Power D680 XS Series Extra Battery

Ron36
Gonna be very close within a couple hundred watts. Right now running American Bass VFL 120.1 at .6 so probably around 3k and looking at 2 Skar skv2’s strapped says 3600 at 2ohms. 2022 Ford Maverick on 22’s Skar SK1500.1 on 4 Skar VD-8’s Mids Sundown Super tweeters, Skar TX 6.5 components on Skar SKM400.4 LC2 for audio control , XS Power D680 XS Series Extra Battery

WalledSonic
I see what Skippy is getting at. If its the same amount of power, your current draw wont change much. In the end, if youre looking to get 'easier' on the electrical, then you cant draw as much current, which means you need to run less power. I dont know if increasing the efficiency by increasing the impedance will make that much of a difference overall to your current draw. Have you checked to see what your full tilt current pull is like? Maybe upgrade to a large case alt to supply more juice? Thoughts. Ron36
So your thinking is 3k at .6ohms or 3k at 2.6ohms still will have the same current draw on my electrical. I have no idea and don’t wanna buy new amps if it’s not gonna change a lot . Thanks for your input. I think the biggest ALT for my truck is 250amps . Not a lot of Ford options but I haven’t checked in awhile. 2022 Ford Maverick on 22’s Skar SK1500.1 on 4 Skar VD-8’s Mids Sundown Super tweeters, Skar TX 6.5 components on Skar SKM400.4 LC2 for audio control , XS Power D680 XS Series Extra Battery
CstrokerV
There is a few posts and I think a video some where on this site... but I think someone said the higher the ohm load the better the control the amp has over the subs but don’t quote me on that my build http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/142505-small-build-log-4-dc-lvl3-10s-tl-update-link-to-rebuild/ http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/154258-rebuild-6-lvl3-12s-update-small-video-nothing-spectacular/ new build http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/188181-03-trailblazer-slow-build-8-dc-lvl3-12-m1-motor-m2-parts/
WalledSonic
Im not 100% sure either. From an AC circuit perspective, you may have less current. But your DC current draw should be the same for the same power output at 12V (or 14V) Chevy Sonic Wall (4) 15's on 10k Build Log https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/209412-2015-chevy-sonicwall4-15s10klithiumlarge-case-hairpin-us-alts/ (4) Fi SP4 15's | (2) Ampere 5Ks | Active! | Arc KS600.2 & KS125.2mini | CDT Silk Domes | Silver Flute 8s | 240Ah JY | US Alts Jeep Wrangler JK (4) 8's in a 4th Order Build Log https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/209841-shadow-2016-jeep-wrangler-jk4th-order4-8sdc-35klarge-case-hairpin-us-alts/ IG @walledsonic
