OM-1 set. Now, I can safely play the one song that has given me coil smell in the past. Stevie Stone - The Reason. Woo-hoo! Now it's time to go vacuum up some plastic shavings from cutting the pocket so I could access the meter..

Just bought a pair of HAT L6's and L1pro's.

And then I said to hell with the used L3, I'll get the pair of L4 BNIB for $50 more. Now to just get the grilles for them all.
-
I got my grilles from audiointensity.com. like 20 bucks a set
-
Nice. I'll look into it. Thank you.

Working on that dash piece still. Taking my time (which is hard because I'm impatient and excited for the finish of it), and every time I sand it, primer it and look for blemishes, I find more that I didn't see before. Round 4 is done, hopefully the last time.

This is probably the best "body work" or fabrication I've done since I started. Which was may/June time frame last year. So it's a learning experience still. It's frustrating to see imperfections, fix them, spray, dry, and find more imperfections, but I guess it's all part of the process. Hopefully the more practice I get in the less imperfections in the future on other things.

Still scurred to do my own doors.
-
I don't mind making pods that I can remove whenever I want that form to the factory speaker location/grille contours, but I'm definitely scurred to cut my panels like a lot of people do. Because worst comes to worst the way I do it, I have holes in the panel where no one will ever see it whether I have the factory grill or my pods. If I cut the rest of the door, well, I don't want to buy a new or a used one.

The HAT L8's I bought last night are the v1's, not the newer v2's. Same as the L3's I'm looking into purchasing. But I can't seem to find any L1v1's. Damn my OCD for wanting matching things. It's already going to be out of whack having everything SoundQubed except speakers once I have a full front stage completed.

I want a garage. And a house. Once the wife finishes school, no more apartment

Oh Kyle. You and your jokes..... That I sometimes wonder if they're really jokes...
@duck: I don't want to do that. At all. It was hard enough to get her to find an apartment she liked that put her closer to work and school.
-
It'd be funny if she was younger than me. Good try though.

Gains are set, time to go wail on the interstate and see how it sounds before it gets too late

Need different ideas on how to make my 3500 (screwed to the rear of the enclosure on risers) to stop making so much noise from vibrating. It's the bottom plate. Don't want to change location. I will take it off tomorrow and tighten the plate, but are there any other additional things?

UPS has had my clamps and jasper jig "out for delivery" since 4:43am, and it never came....

I am quite sure they do. I do know what time of year it is. I wasn't complaining, even though it seems that way. It's just one of those instances where your hopes are up to receive stuff you ordered, and then it doesn't happen. my bad
-
oh, then my bad. But most likely they are delivering rather late, and tomorrow as well.
-
i didnt read it but maybe : http://www.marketwatch.com/story/amazons-delivery-shift-puts-alliance-with-ups-under-strain-2015-12-23

andddd i think it's time to call it a day after drawing the first port wall for a second time and not realizing it until after i already cut it. Start with a clear and fresh mind tomorrow, finish my last three cuts needed for the enclosure, and use the leftovers for the amp/batt rack. and hopefully not need to purchase another sheet of birch.
-
Took out the amps, battery, and subs so I can clean and deaden the back. It's so quiet and lonely without music

it's only been an hour and i'm already itching to put it all back in. and of course it's raining so i cant get much of the wood-work done
-
Haven't had tunes in so long.
-
I hated it when i was trying to do my doors and only had subs. It brought all of my rattles to my attention.
Next time i'm out in San Diego i'll make another trip up to Temecula and maybe you'll have your tunes back up and playing, Orion. Didn't get a chance to see the stang when i was out there for thanksgiving last year.

a pair of 4 ohm speakers reading 3.3 ohms each... should be fine right?

sounds fine to me
-
Remember, even 4ohm speakers don't stay 4ohm once they get music to them
-
4 ohm is just a placeholder for DC since there is no conversion from DC resistance to AC impedance.

Just had a "grandma's cleaner" sales rep come by. I couldn't stop laughing because I had already seen a video of someone else selling it. I'll give it to them, they know how to push their product, but I just don't want it

Moved into a new apartment with the wife, I'm tired of moving/unpacking things. I've lost track of how many times I moved as a child being an army brat and child of divorced parents going back and forth between them, how many times I've helped my family members move, how many times I've helped others move. I think when the wife and I decide to move into a house, I'm just gonna pay for a moving company to load and unload everything. I just don't want to do it anymore, e...

I have a question for someone more skilled in Ebonics than myself... What in the does "you brought the pots and pans on this one" and other "pots and pans" euphemisms mean? I started noticing it in a few songs.

just like whipping a brick. cooking dope. # pyrex

is this like the pot calling the kettle black?

Got it. It was throwing me for a loop. Thanks

anyone have the WinISD .wrd file for the SoundQubed HDS312D2? I copied the parameters from their site but WinISD says its invalid, and then force-closes when i click "create".

well its d4 https://www.mediafire.com/?2f655cx9juk43zc

Cool thanks man. I should be able to adjust it I think. I'll take a look when I get home today
-
120k miles on the Tahoe today. Plan on getting a tune-up (new plugs & wires, filters/fluids) anything else I should make sure gets looked at/changed out? My brother in-law works at a shop down the road so I usually just pay for the cost of parts and he'll knock it out.

Yeah alignments will be done. I do that with every oil change.
-
you get an alignment every oil change? o_o
-
Yes. Personal preference.

Busted my ass for two weeks doing another work centers job for them, stayed late, came in on the weekends instead of being home with the wife, getting the ship ready for a certification assessment, don't get shit. Someone else spends a day with them for one thing, they get a letter of commendation from the CO. Hooyah go navy -__-

seems like a lot of that going on. The retard ball munchers, are getting promoted, and the none ass kissing workers that keep the plant running, are getting shit on. Still,... the reason i dont sleep well at night, has nothing to do with my work ethic..... nothing.
-
ass kissers.. something i will never do.. ive talk shit to owners and managers and never got fired for it
-
I don't kiss ass either. I'm there to work and my work ethic, knowledge, and capabilities should be the only judgement factors. I work hard to stand out, get better evals, which will help me on the advancement exams. I just thought it was bullshit that what I did was praised and even had the entire chain of command up to the CO asking me about my progress and I didn't get anything but a good job from my LPO for doing something that isn't even in my field. End rant. Ugh.

I think it's about to be time to buy a damn corded drill. Got the wheel-well trim adhesive off and halfway up the drivers side stripes on two batteries. Hard wired 115 ain't gonna run out of juice any time soon...
-
Two subwoofers of the same brand/model/size, one is in too small of a ported box tuned to 40hz, one is in the correct size ported box tuned to 35hz. T/S parameters change as you break subs in. Those two subs are broken in in different enclosures, so the T/S parameters will be different?

The Dayton dats is only $100.
The Im-sg can do it as well and there would be a few other benefits to owning one of those.
-
Good to know. Thank you.
-
Or a umik and rew. I think it can do t/s parameters. The dats system is like 30more but worth it IMHO.
