  1. I think I read that to technically be considered an IB, the airspace (trunk) that the sub is in has to be 10x the VAS of the driver.
  2. The first box I posted should work. Maybe a little more port area I guess. Download Torres Box calculator and fool around with it. Obsidian recommends 2.5-3.75cu.ft. (net) so 5-7.5cuft. Net for the pair. They recommend somewhere between a 4"-6" aeroport per 15, but everyone here seems to think that's not enough port area. Subs up, port rear (make sure there's at least 6" between the port exit and the hatch). Maybe build it on the big side if you're only putting 1000rms to the pair. And you should be good!
  3. Box build is going well! Gotta wait for the sides and baffle to dry before doing anything else.

  4. Not an expert on it, but from my understanding with isobaric, you gain motor force at the expense of cone area.
  5. If you want better Sound quality and low end extention, I'd go with the SA8. If you want louder, with a relatively high F3, I'd go with the E8.
  6. But than, if I build the box to minimum Obsidian recommendations, my port area is great I think it just looks small because I built the box to maximum recommended size. We're not talking about 3000 Watt subwoofers, or burp machines here...
  7. I don't think I'll have any issues with port noise. If I do, I'll just cut out the port, patch the box, and go with 3 6 in. Aero's. I just don't want too much port area and unload, or not be musical enough.
  8. Hey man, I'm building this box for my two Obsidian 15D4's on a Sundown SAE 1200D in my 98 Mountaineer Maybe it'll work for you too: You shoulda got them in D4 Ohm, though! Those subs are gonna laugh at 300WRMS each!
  9. On break from building my enclosure for two of them right now^
  10. Just edit the whole thread text with "Sorry, this item is no longer for sale"
  11. Ecstatic about starting my box build in a couple hours! Gonna start it at 10am to try to be as considerate to my neighbor's as possible.

8am is a good working time. Anything before that is a no go!

  12. I was wondering this too. I'd like to use my car as the stereo at parties and stuff but don't want the batteries to die on me lol
  13. Some good amp companies popular here (Not an all inclusive list): Crescendo, Sundown, DC Audio, SoundQubed (Formerly AudioQue), Image Dynamics, Hifonics (I hear the Brutus series is their good one), Rockford Fosgate, Skar Audio. Pick an amp that's RMS matches the RMS on your woofer, make sure your enclosure is to par with the manufacturer's recommendations, set your gains correctly (With an O-Scope or DD-1), and bang on! Just don't make the mistake I made, and get a not-so-"BOSS" amp. Lol
  14. I found my next set of components! Think a set of these would be good on an SAX125.4 ran active?
  15. 2x http://www.woofersetc.com/p-10242-sd-2-12d4-sundown-audio-12-dual-4-ohm-subwoofer.aspx And an http://www.woofersetc.com/p-9255-saz-1000d-sundown-audio-1000w-1-channel-monoblock-amplifier.aspx Or if you wanna spend a little more money and get a bit more power http://www.woofersetc.com/p-9258-sax-1200d-sundown-audio-1200w-1-channel-monoblock-amplifier.aspx And that should slam, better than pretty much any other shallow mount.
  16. I still haven't done my Mountaineer either, but looking around probably the best/easiest place would be the strut tower, that's what I'm thinking of doing.
  17. Suhweet, as soon as I get my bonus at work I'm ordering one of those 125.4's!
  18. Man, I wish decaf still had his stuff for upload.
