So, I think i am going to replace my alternator. I was looking at this one since it is the only one i can find that isn't 65A. I am curious if anyone here has bought an alternator from this place and if they live up to their claims. http://www.maniacele...ou120ampac.html If anyone knows someone who carries an HO alternator for an 87 accord LXI with a 2.0 let me know. I'm not looking for anything crazy. I don't think i can swing more than $200 after the core is subtracted. If push comes to shove i might be able to just throw a GM alternator on there since the car is old enough to not have any fancy-pants electrical crap in the way.

This made me think you were trying to turn your turn signals into DRL's with white LED's.

That amp has Remote on, DC Offset, and signal sensing options to turn it on. Maybe the seller is an idiot and doesn't know what he is doing. Like Deathcards said go look at it and have him hook it up. Just watch him and if you can see he is obviously doing something wrong and the amp works fine just don't say anyhing. Buy it and hook it up. There is a switch to select which method of remote on it uses, if he is doing it wrong all you have to do is quietly buy it, take it home, put the switch in the right spot and enjoy. This, Unless you are going to weld some 1/2 steel plate under the car (like a 2"x4") for the new location and put a bolt and nut+lock nut underneath. Plus you have to deal with possible fuel lines/brake lines and other things that you may have to take off to even do that. Not a good idea really.

This make me think it's a bad ground or power connection somewhere.

hook the dd-1 up to your h/u speaker outs using the supllied adapter and play the 0db 40hz test tone and find its maxed unclipped volume. Hook up your LOC to your h/u and adjust it up while at your max unclipped volume and find max unclipped setting. hook LOC to amp and do it again. You can use -5db or -10db at your own risk at this point. edit. What i meant by "do it again" is after setting the LOC and hooking it to the amp, hook the dd-1 to the amp. I didn't say that specifically.

no, i set with the -5db tone, some music has more bass, some less, setting with it at half lets me bring up the lower level stuff. yes i run the risk of clipping, but it's my equipment and i'm careful with it. kinda

FYI, and this may not be true for everyone. but i set my gains with car running and subs unhooked and my pac-lc1 at half. If i play the same track with the car running and subs hooked up i can turn my pac-lc1 to about 3 o'clock. (noon is half). Not exactly relevant but just thought i would share.

Thank you No the amp won't have problems as LEDs draw so little current, but as they are made for 12-14V and not the voltages you get out of your amp they'll blow. And you're correct on the other stuff. The voltage is irrelevant, its the resistance that matters. Ahh hell forget it. i'm not posting in this thread anymore. listen to zxsonyyz and screw your amp up if you want to.

Why the hell would make any difference putting resistors on the speaker terminals?! do NOT hook anything other that speakers to your speaker terminals.

Irrelevant,, i just notice that you aren't getting signal or tone. Push the rca all the way into the dd1. you have real thick sleeves on your rca's where they plug in?

You e.q. probably has settings like "Rock" "pop" "jazz" "vocal" yadayadada. find the one called 'off". use it then set try again

Am i stupid or is hooking anything other than your subs to your amps speaker terminals going to change what ohm's the amp see's and thus possibly frying the amp? From what i gather you just need a module that has a microphone that tells the lights when to light up. Correct me if i am wrong.

Does the hiss go away when you unplug the rca's from the amp? Does it go away with them plugged into the amp but not the head unit?

Well, here is the deal. Like i said before. A good rule of thumb is to cut what's too loud to get the sound you want. When you turn up the bass and treble or use loudness you run the risk of introducing clipping. The dd-1 manual states to set all levels to zero. What it doesn't say is the reason for this. The reason is that 1. It could introduce clipping and a false reading on the dd-1 2. e.q. and loudness and things of that nature might effect the waveform of the test tone making it difficult or impossible for the dd-1 to give accurate results. the dd-1 manual says that you can put these setting where you want after setting gains. Anyway that's my 2 cents. i don't have anything boosted, only certain frequencies cut that are too loud. But i have a 28 band e.q. to help me. A little boost probably wont hurt anything. It's really late here so I am going to bed.

It's just easier to use a gain knob like the pac-lc1. you don't have to use that model but it has a proven track record for being a good knob.Plus it will let you control ALL the bass (to your subs) instead of just one freq. And it only cuts the level never boosts it so you can set gains with it and now you aren't clipping.

Well, normally you don't want to boost things, only cut. If you set that knob at half you only boost 45hz, then it rolls off either side of that with less and less boost. So when you use it you might make your system loud on 45-ish notes and quiet on others. There are alot of variables involved too, Box tuning, the cars resonant freq and your crossover point. I wouldn;t even use it at all and get something like the pac-lc1 line level control if you want to control output of your bass level. If your set on using it then go with 0 like i said earlier.

Here is the deal, when you have a gain knob, it just controls all the volume, with a bass boost knob it boosts output centred at one frequency. They work different, therefore requiring different approaches. I don't know enough about RF amps to say which yours is so i will leave that to someone more knowledgeable.
