  1. i dont like to see anything with a Max rating yet even the some of best companies do it because thats what sells product. Even looking at speakers its like science, max is always double rms.
  2. first subs i heard were my brothers pyramid gold series 12's. maybe rated at 250 watts? running off a kenwood 1021. so, like late 80's early 90's iirc. Every time the bass would hit it would make me smile.
  3. I think what you are after is more like automatic gain limit, keeps you from pushing the amp into clipping. That would be ok, except people would hate it because far too many kiddies only get loud by cranking the gain like its a volume knob. Also, some people who compete push into clipping to gain a tenth or so when needed. The other factor is that sinewaves are busy busy busy, look at music and not just a clean test tone and imagine trying to determine if any of the mumbo jumbo is clipped or not. Hell some music has sines that look like clipping but arent. I think the cost to build a logic gate that could filter all the out would make an amp prohibitively expensive for mass market, especially when they are tools like o-scopes and dd-1's that make setting gain correctly pretty easy
  4. i can imagine an amplifier racing around adjust gain to match the signal and all your music will lose all of its dynamics. Basically you will be play the same volume all the time.
  5. is it just me or is anyone else getting a lot of errors recently from cloudfare sayig the site is offline?

i have never seen a Pioneer deck with the correct voltage. It's always a volt low on every one i have ever owned. The VM-1 don't lie. Unless you got a bad one and that is very rare....like a black Panda.

i believe the vm-1. not the pioneer

My office at work has a 23" and a 22" monitor, bugs the shit out of me, especially since the 23" is slightly less than 1080p and the 22 is 1080p.

at least you have two. i get one shitty 19" at work and normally have to have multiple excel spread sheets open at once

  13. If i'm on anyones nuts its Tony D'amore's nuts. Not Steve Meade. Considering Tony is the one who engineered the thing. So if you want to bash someone go to his facebook page and call him out and show him his tool is wrong. Come back here with screenshots.
  14. One thing, you have 11 posts all against Steve and against Tone D'amore and against their products. Why did you make an account here?
  15. It's after post #25 and before post #27 lol. He said he thought his problem was the sub out being at +15. I was just assuring him that's not the problem. if his sub out distorts at volume 26 and the front distorts at 32 then his sub out being at +15 is the issue and he needs to back it off.
  16. I dont recall anyone saying put the sub out at 0. what i am saying to do is basically gain match the sub out with the front out on the headunit. then go set the amps. It does not matter where the sub out is set as long as it distorts at the same time the front out does. What's the point of even setting the amp gain if you are just going to send it a distorted signal?
  17. site just went offline for a minute, now its slow. guess all the gun pics in the RPP has the NSA squirming a bit. lmaoi

Isnt it something how almost every mod/admin on this site has fake guns!

  18. He is probably getting distortion in his sub amp because the sub out distorts at 30 and he is setting gains at 32. He should back his sub out down like I said. Or am I crazy? Edit you can try 100 or 120 for mids. It just depends on what they are happy with. Once your gains are set right you will have a better idea what you can do
  19. 0db track will be quiter than -10 track.
  20. this is what i would do, go back to your head unit, find max undistorted with track 2 (1khz). Go back to track 1, using the volume you just found, and check your sub out. If it is distorted, back the sub level down till the distortion light goes out. Now go back to your sub amp at the new volume and set the gain with 3 or 5. or right in between the two. I think your sub out is distorting because it showed distortion at 29 and you turned your head unit up to 32 to set the sub amp.
  21. Tony D just posted something on facebook. I'm all tingly about it.

they should have gone with a digital screen. if the numbers are anything like the other smd meters i dont see it being accurate.
