lets talk 22s

This has come up on my short list lately due to the fact that ammo prices are nuts right now and only getting worse. Its either blow through a shit load of money on a range day or pick up a 22lr and bang out for 500 rounds at 20 bucks. I just havent decided what way i want to go. I kinda like the thought of going out and picking off some squirrels or something with it as well but that limits me to bolt action in pa. My local gun shop does have a colt/umarex m4 ops 22lr in stock. I can also take a trip next week and pick up a bolt action. my only issue is the bolt action is half of the m4 style. So I guess my question is does anyone have any hands on with a 22? any recommendations. A Ruger 10/22 is also a possibility.l

I have Marlin Model 60. Would not really recommend them as it seems a common problem with them is that the action frequently jams. One of the pins that pulls the next cartridge in to place often wears down (the non-ejection side IIRC) and eventually needs to be replaced.

I may be selling a Remington 700 for my son, he's wanting to - for some odd ass reason get a Bone Collector edition air rifle http://www.gamousa.com/product.aspx?productID=435 Now I don't know shit about these air rifles but I guess he and his buddies like these better for small game. To me it's a BB gun but from what I've been reading they are pretty powerful and have a decent resale value. But the Remington is only a few years old, he got it when he was 10 for christmas. Ruger 10/22. The possibilities on them are endless, proven reliable, and just a ton of fun to shoot. Hard to go wrong.

Ive got a Ruger 10/22 and love it. Just put a cheap air gun scope on it for the time being and its accurate out to about 50 yards. My dad has a S&W m&p15 22 that is buil out just like an ar15. It is a great gun also.
