To fuse or not to fuse.

Should you or should you not use a fuse between a battery and your sub amp?

i always fuse because if your in a wreck and a wire gets pinched or something it would short out your amp so the fuse would blow instead of anything else

Positive between battery and amp would not short your amp...it would short the battery causing the wire to overheat/melt/cause an electrical fire.

Some amps have fuses on them some dont...the ones that dont it is usually recomended by them that you run another fuse right before the amp also. Never run your wire without a fuse. It is unlikely that it will short..I have never popped a fuse...but if it does happen do you feel like burning your car for a 10$ fuse holder.

There is no reason not to fuse. If the amp is already internally fused, well, then it is already fused.

You fuse to prevent a fire, not to save your amps.

Long story short, unless your vehicle is worth less than the cost of a 300a ANL ($0.90) or you don't have the room, fuse it.

If at first you do not succeed, you are doing it wrong! -ARS

We had a guy at a local small event with no fuse. Guy seemed really knowledgeable about everything. He went to the db tent and not even 20 seconds into his bump something went wrong and his truck went up in flames. All he posted on facebook was his battery wire came loose and sparked and up it went. Clean install and engine. So, Ive been very curious what really happened. For me, If I am running any wire from the battery it is fused. Just to be on the save side.
