Eduardo Andrade
I want to start college soon, and I want to get into (for a lack of better terms/words) car customization. I mean like I want to work with car audio and electronics, and doing things like fabricating custom parts like dash parts and fitting body kits and things of that sort. You know? I want to work with wood, fiberglass and resin, things like that. At least that's how I want to start out, eventually I want to take more classes for things like car maintenance (things like alignments, tune ups, things of that sort) and just keep going with what ever I can get into with cars. But as far as with what I want to start out with, what kind of classes/programs can you guys recommend? I live in the Chicago land area, so if there's any schools specifically for this it would be cool if you guys let me know, but I plan on going to my local community college (Waubonsee). TheRealSharr
Yea technical schools are the way to go for you , plus they are usually cheaper/offer grants etc. Look for schools that offer automotive technology programs , these programs include classes covering electrical, brakes, steering/suspension, transmissions EVERYTHING You can get a certificate as ASE certified (after the test) or you can get a degree with some extra general ed classes .... either way it puts you in a hire-able position for a lot of tech jobs at shops ...getting your foot in the door Also, auto body repair is offered as a program and is a great thing to learn for a career They'll teach you everything you need to know to do the job but getting better at it comes with experience

Blackedout
Electrical engineering, physics. Electrical engineering isn't a class. Any engineer goes through extensive math and physics courses. Becoming an engineer won't teach you any of the following: "I mean like I want to work with car audio and electronics, and doing things like fabricating custom parts like dash parts and fitting body kits and things of that sort" Trunk Build Log
