How much to charge for wiring?

Recommended Posts

Co worker has an '07 accord and needs the following done: Run the power/ground wire, remote wire, RCAs, and associated terminals/connections. He has the supplies himself, just needs someone to do the labor.

I'm no "professional" at this stuff. He just needs some basic wiring. He asked me how much it would be and I don't have the slightest idea what a fair price would be on this. How hard are these cars to work on?

$50? $20? $100?

Is it a hybrid? If so, the battery bank is located behind the back seat and presents a bit of difficulty in getting zero gauge through to the trunk. Other than that, they're not hard to work on.

As for what to charge, what do you think your knowledge and skill are worth? I can't price another man's work for him.

start high 1 bill if it takes you less time /effort you can always decrease the $, but removal of head unit a couple of panels & maybe take out front seat & reset air bag sensor ,lift up carpet may need firewall grommet ..etc..can be done in an hour... if you work fast & no probs... local stereo shop will charge more & might not be quality work..

i usually dont charge at all.

my skills must be pretty shitty.

just put a 4 channel alpine into my buddies olds.

gonna be doing other buddies subaru with mtx subs on a audio technix 400.1

i buy all the stuff for them and charge them for any other parts i use (lugs, battery terminals, solder etc)

then give them the bill for everything at the end.

they usually take me to dinner or something after.

treated like a kinggg.

How much time would it take you to do? Those cars are super easy to run wires through, unless it's the hybrid. If he's a good coworker, $50. If not, grab $75. $100 is what I would charge but I was in a shop, and for my buddies I never charged. They always repay with steak and liquor so I'm never worried. I k ow he's just a co-worker but you have to decide what you think is fair for your time.

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
