I do hear a noticeable difference between the levels of my iPhone 4 and my S5.

Tomorrow I'll try and remember to dmm the voltage of the S5 with a the basic music app.

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space

Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears,

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.

Yes they will . iphones are really bad about doing so. IMO

You are so wrong.

What proof do you have besides your opinion?

iPhones don't clip, now if your download is shit don't blame the phone

According to my buddy who DD1'd his Iphone it starts clipping at 4 clicks from full volume

I've tested about a dozen 1phone 4's and 5's all using the 0db tracks with none ever distorting.

I have tested older ipods and gotten distortion 2 clicks b4 max

Rolex you sicken me.

I put my Oscope on my 4S, this being an AUX cable in and oscope on the other end, clipped heavy after like 75% volume on clean tones. Have to realize it is just like an amp, and your volume buttons are the gain knob.
