hispls Posted August 28, 2014 Report Posted August 28, 2014 so ive had my mazda for just over 2 months now and my sound system for over a month. ive got 2 sa-10s in a 4th order tuned to 47 on an audison voce uno at 2 ohm. so roughly 1200 watts rms. for the life of me i cant get it over a 135. ive tried a new port and only gained a db from the origional port which is 133. A Mazda what? 4th order isn't some magical paradigm to automatically get loud. I've got a simple skar Ivx 10 in my ram single cab on a 200rms kicker amp in a simple ported box that is doing 138 on the term lab in the 30hz range. Usually those "simple" ported boxes are the ones that get the loudest with the best frequency response. then please explain to me why most of the musical record holders run bandpasses? pipo, mick, gibson, bowman, kilian, etc Implying when you have that much power and cone area a sealed enclosure wouldn't be damn near as loud.
LT.Smoke Posted August 28, 2014 Report Posted August 28, 2014 Usually those "simple" ported boxes are the ones that get the loudest with the best frequency response.Thats not true, everyone is doing bandpass enclosures now, so those are the best. They are the in thing! Ported boxes are like sealed boxes now days, if it aint bandpass it aint worth a damn. Who cares that a simple ported box would walk all over this bandpass, its garbage because its not bandpass... I'm sorry was that sarcasm? Does N8 do sarcasm a lot? I'm not sure if I've seen it before. Louder.. Yes it is true. Doesn't matter on the enclosure, you will always give up some SPL for frequency response or vice versa. A 4th isn't generally made to be loud. Understood they can get loud though like any enclosure.

A 4th isn't generally made to be loud. Understood they can get loud though like any enclosure. There are a bunch of loud 4th orders out there that burp over 160db sealed up, and play 25hz songs just fine. The issue is, someone sees a loud bandpass, and they think hey if I build a bandpass I will be loud too. People do not want to put in the work to have an effective and efficient bandpass, let alone do they normally have the room for something proper. This guy could put his 2 10s in a sealed box built to spec for his woofers and be louder., 133-134 db is something stock stereos can do on a termlab. There is a major issue and its likely his enclosure, especially since your feeding the woofers with a 1200wrms amp. Bandpasses are the new "in" thing for the last couple years. Reminds me of the new Pro Audio speakers everyone goes nuts over, and that tradition seams to be which ever new speaker manufacture Parts-Express starts to carry. Everyone was about Seleniums, then for a while the Pyles, then Beyma, and now PRV.

Because who cares for burps? Record holding cars on burps don't typically run bandpasses, just burp boxes/walls. Now if you wanna be musical that's a different story.
