greg4510 Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 hey guys I was wondering if I have enough electrical to run my aq 220d at 1/2ohm. I only have stock 160 alt but big 3 is done 2 runs of 1/0 power and 2 1/0 grounds to the frame. 1 optima yellow top 34/78up front and 3 kinetic hc1800 in back. just wondering if I should invest in more before I hook it up
MrSkippyJ Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 how do you plan on keep the batteries charged? F150: Stock 2019 Harley Road Glide: Amp: TM400Xad - 4 channel 400 watt Processor: DSR1 Fairing (Front) 6.5s -MMats PA601cx Lid (Rear) 6x9s - TMS69
deathcards Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 no that amp would be hot and angry i could see it working better with a bigger alt that of course true to its amperage and dependable skar sk2500.1 0 gauge power and ground kunukonceptz alpine HUvxi65 components on BA gt-275new build log -> http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/150642-project-d-kon-deathcards-build-log/#entry2148821 2 x-15 sundowns singer alt, odyssey bat, and maxwell ultra caps
greg4510 Posted June 2, 2015 Author Report Posted June 2, 2015 see im saving up to get a bigger alt but I have the batteries already and wanted to start putting it in. its my daily driver but I can charge at night in my garage if I need to. its going to be pushing 2 skar ddx15 dual 2 ohm in 8 cu ft net box 120 sq in port tuned to 32. so im thinking with rise it will be over 1 ohm while playing anyways
reedal Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 Do it. It should protect before it gets damaged anyways. Or just play it smart and wire to 2ohm until you get your alternator.. Unless you have the tool(s) to measure the impedance rise in your enclosure while wired to .5, you shouldn't count on rise to save your equipment. Katt Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 I ran a AQ2200 at 1/2ohm for a long time on 2 18s in a wall, on a stock 50amp alt, and one 1100cca group 8d batt in my trunk for a while. 11v daily, sometimes high 10s. It took it like a champ, daily driven. Buuuuut, because i did it, doesn't mean you should join the idiot club without supporting electrical. Its a risk you take. Yes their strong amps, i never put mine intro protect, but just beware of the consequences. *06 330i - Sundern x12 - saz-3500* *91 Foxbody V1 S-Trim Notch*
greg4510 Posted June 2, 2015 Author Report Posted June 2, 2015 Yea im going to try and find like a 250 amp alt but i was hoping the 3 1800 batteries would be pretty good they are like 80ah a piece
Smoove Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 There's a guy on here with an AQ2200 on a HDC4 18 running at .5 with the biggest XS batt he could fit under the hood and a xp3000 in the back and 180 alt. full tilt revving during a demo he drops to like 11.5v. greg4510 Posted June 3, 2015 Author Report Posted June 3, 2015 ok ran across a sweet deal guy wants to trade me my aq2200d and 250 bucks for a bc3500. my only concern is that I really don't think I have enough electrical for the 3500. its a decent deal cause I only paid 200 for aq2200 but that means I have to spend more only on electrical
