DubNDodge
So my new box was a flop. Goal was 25Hz up to 45 or whatever. It peaks hard around 45Hz and drops off to nothing under 32Hz. My old box had the exact same volume, but less port length and stupid low port area. Same power same subs. I guess my question is, what is wrong with this box, or are the subs specs wrong? Sub specs: (Edit: see page 2)***New box 4.55cubes tuned to 31Hz port area is 4.5"x14.5" and 28.75" long bandwidth: 32Hz to 50Hz ***Old box was 4.55cubes tuned to 29Hz port area was 4.25"x 8.5" and 18" long bandwidth: 27Hz to 55Hz New box Old box: Note that there was a port plug reducing the port area '01 Dodge Stratass Sealed Trunk Build Log 2008 Honda Fit Sport Build Log On 10/3/2013 at 10:00 AM, ROLEXrifleman said: Anyone who says they knew everything they wanted out of life at 19 can go suck a bag of dicks cause they are lying to themselves or brought up in a cult. BoomZoom808
Looks like the port opening on the new box isn't helping the air flow? Triticum Agricolam
Have you checked the tuning of your new box to see what you are getting in the vehicle? You can play test tones and look for the frequency that the sub moves the least. MADVIBES
did you account for port displacement of your new bigger port DB DRAG PSYCHLONE PRO 156.3 30 SECOND AVERAGE FO MAX AT 26HZ LEGAL DASH DRIVER DOOR OPEN 158.0@30 HZ MY BEST SO FAR, HOPEFULLY A 160 COME FEBUARY. 156.9@26hz 158.0@30hz
ShadeTreeMechanic
Is that 4.55 cuff net or gross volume? What is the displacement of your port? This along with driver displacement subtracts from total volume of the box. This makes your box a little on the small side and causes port tuning to go up. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
Joe X
Old box is for a trunk car, new box is not, if you tested each box in different vehicles your results may depend on the vehicles as well, other than that a sketch with dims for the new box would help to recheck it's specs. Esgedi
One of your subs is unloading directly into the port, that has a bit to do with it. Also, published T/S specs are NEVER EVER accurate. Even with sundown level stuff, there's still a huge variance between one driver and another. Do yourself a favor, buy a WT3, and sweep your own T/S specs. Don't trust a shop but you personally just smoked two decks, makes sense. 03' Trailblazer LTDayton Designer 6.5"s & Silkie tweetersDayton Audio Ultimax 18"Pioneer 9601 & 8604XS Power D34002 runs 1/0Singer
notorious97200
You said the old box had stupid low port area, but maybe it was enough. You don't run monster subs with huge amount of power, for SPL comps. How did you find you had such a narrow bandwidth ? I have never been disappointed with Ram designs ! But you need to ask the right thing, or to talk to him. Good luck. black BMW X1 2.0 l 192 hp OEM head unit, Amplifiers : Audison AP 8.9 amp with integrated DSP and Ampere Audio 1200. hdorre
having so much port area, im sure your response takes a nosedive under tuning. Model it up, check port velocity.
