ShadeTreeMechanic
When you set your gains with the dd1 you are only setting a reference. Different songs can be recorded at different levels. Different sources can play at different levels too. It is still up to the operator of the volume control to keep the system safe. If the system hurts when you do that, then don't do that. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
hispls
Determined clipping by the excursion reaching past the mechanical limits of the sub. That's not "clipping" and it's certainly not the fault of the recordings, that's you exceeding the mechanical limits of your woofer in whatever box you're using. Kyblack76
^^^ Kinda my thinking. Clipping is thermal. Not mechanical. SMD SUPER SELLER The Burban Build Blazer Build sold Acura trunk build sold
bassl0va
^^^ Kinda my thinking. Clipping is thermal. Not mechanical. Clipping is electrical, thermal issues are one of its effects OP, that's not how you set gains unless your sub reaches excursion limits well before you run out of power, which shouldn't happen cause it means you bought way too big of an amplifier. You set gains based on what the maximum output of your amp is. You want to be able to drive the amp to maximum output, and if you know what you're doing, a bit past that in case you need to make up for a song with less bass than your reference level, as ShadeTreeMechanic alluded to, and if you play a song with more bass than your reference level you need to turn it down a bit.
