DC Alternator Yes or No??

So as I said, all companies have issues at times, getting parts made, delayed shipments, backed up painters, etc. Not going with a company that offers a great product with little to none units that fail just because they get backed up is no reason..

All he said was the fact that even if they tell you a week it could be 6 months or more. No company can get by on car audio alone, but this is a problem with DC either way you look at it. The guy asked about them and was told the truth and that's the bottom line.

There is nothing to defend, telling people one thing and doing another was a pattern. Is it still the same way? I don't know, but if I was buying an alt I'd definitely look into it. The key being do they have them in stock. I would have to assume if they had them already they go out with a quickness, our alts being a prime example of ones that all the companies stock (AD, CS, DR based alts being the example).

Either which way if you go with DC you get a great product, but you might have to wait.

As far as Iraggi goes, you won't see him again I don't think. He owes me close to $300 along with others, I doubt I'll ever see that money again. It could be he is just laying low for awhile but who knows.

And just so you know there is NO benefit to running voltage over 15.0 volts on a 12 volt system unless you like replacing batteries. That .5 more of a volt is doing more harm then good sure amp may be making a lil more power but the amount is not worth it in compared to the damage you are doing to your batteries.

didnt even read any of what the peanut gallery wrote.

Yesa its worth it to purchase a DC Power alternator.

external regulator. just ask them for it. its like 50 bucks extra.

Most DC Power units have a higher set point on the alternators. My voltage is done with no external regulators, or xs power vcm's. It is high and I love it!

The only bad thing about DC power is waiting a year to get your order.

Funny how everyone is quick to point out this about DC Power. Their business is not just Car Audio like most these other guys here, DC Power is making alternators for other professional vehicles. While they make money selling alts to this audio community it sure is not their main and only source of income.

DC Power does things differently, instead of over filling a crap oem design case with higher powered parts that can not properly cool, they have their own cases machined up for the XP series alternators. When the average person orders a XP alternator for some foreign car they have to find that vehicle with the same engine, mock up a bracket for that customer and get everything to work, because they do not want to use that problematic oem style alt case. Look at other companies customer service, where has Iraggi been lately?? I dont even see his section on these forums. or Excessive Amperage seems to be also afk..

Or lets look at mechman, he is building meade 4 new alts and started building them over a month ago, but to this date I see no update on these alts on Steves or Mechmans youtube. However he rebuilt a alt for steves honda which was around the same time, and steve has got that alt, and installed.

So as I said, all companies have issues at times, getting parts made, delayed shipments, backed up painters, etc. Not going with a company that offers a great product with little to none units that fail just because they get backed up is no reason..

It's pointed out because one, it's true, and two, it's frustrating to alot of people who buy them because they all expect to get what they paid for in a reasonable amount of time....I understand what's reasonable to one may not be to the other so you have to factor that in when you read or hear about the horror stories, in all fairness. But what's not subjective is when the customer is told "aw man, sorry it hasn't gone out yet, it's ready to go, just gotta get it packaged up and I'll get it sent out tomorrow." Then tomorrow comes, it hasn't shipped out, and when you get a hold of them you hear "Sorry about that, just wanted to do a couple upgrades to it, don't worry though it'll be worth it and you'll love how it performs...I'll get it sent out Friday." So you get home Friday night expecting to see an email with a tracking number and don't get one, have to wait until Monday to talk to them and get told "it didn't ship? Man, I had it all packed up and ready to go, I don't know why Rob didn't ship it. Don't worry though, I'll handle it myself, it'll go out tomorrow." This goes on for weeks man, weeks! I've seen it myself. I've heard the same exact story from alot of others on other boards too so it's not like these were isolated incidents. I think the only reason it wasn't spoken of more is because alot of people were given a free alt on top of the one they ordered, for dealing with this for so long.

I understand the car audio customer isn't the bread and butter of the company, but that people think that somehow justifies their actions in these situations I don't quite get. I think the only issue in those situations is simply that customers are told the product is going to ship, and doesn't.....repeatedly. If they were to simply say "sorry man, waiting on parts from Bangkok, i'm expecting them in a few weeks, I'll email you as soon as we get your order filled and shipped so you know when to expect it." That would be a whole different ballgame. But at the same time....of the people who have actually gotten their product, not many have complaints about them. Sometimes the wrong harness is sent, wrong pulley, sometimes it's their fault, other times it's not, sometimes they get it handled quickly, other times not so much. But the majority of people who get the alt love them, it's just a crap shoot on how fast you actually get it.

As for Mechman and Steve's alts.....let's ask Steve how many times Matt has told him his alts are going to ship a certain day, that day comes and goes without them being shipped and without any word or notice from Matt about why they didn't go out as promised, an excuse given as to why they didn't ship, then these same events get repeat themselves until they finally ship. Any bad thing said about DC has always been this, i've never heard "man, this alternator sucks!"

The only bad thing about DC power is waiting a year to get your order.

:orly3: i got mine 3 days after i ordered it. they shipped it the same day.

There's an exception to every rule:werd_msword:

I'm not going to try and come in here to stir the pot, beg forgiveness, or anything like that. I'm just here to say my piece because I'm tired of people who *think* they know us, and whats going on spreading a bunch of shit that isn't true. We can fill a 100 orders without a hitch, but we miss one, somebody squawks, and it's the end of the world. ANY of you in business know you rarely, if EVER hear any of the last 99 people you did an outstanding job for, but damn sure if somethings not right on the 100th one, you never hear the end of it..

That being said, have we had problems? Yeah, we've definitely had our share. We've had such explosive growth the last 3 years it's all we can do to keep up with it.

The problem with growth, especially for us, has been being able to get our vendors, suppliers, and sub-manufacturers to keep up with us. We've had 2 machine shops close on us mid-stream, with NO warning. Another one of them has been closed, re-opened, closed, re-opened, closed again, and back up again, powdercoaters who take 3 weeks to get shit done, you name it. It's an absolute NIGHTMARE for us. No business functions good when things that are totally out of there control happen.. Despite our best efforts to avoid it, shitty things just happen, and we've had more than our fair share of them.

We have also realized that we simply cannot rely on other people and businesses to have the same interest in our well being as we do, So, we've taken most matters into our own hands, and took care of the problem ourselves. In the last 4 months, we've dropped $250k on our own CNC machines, moved into a new 5k sq foot building, dropped another $50k on a new test bench, and now have 3D laser scanning, rapid prototyping, and an engineer with an MBA in mechanical engineering from MIT on staff. And I'm leaving out the good stuff..

Do any of you really, honestly think that we did all of that, and spent that kind of money because we dont give a shit about our customers and when their things get done? No.... Hardly....

We've also had our own internal problems with not having the infrastructure in place to manage important things like inventory and order tracking. So yeah, there have been times we didn't know WTF was going on with all we've had going on. Believe me, we made our mistakes, we learned from them, we DAMN well paid for them, and we damn sure FIXED the problems. We still ship around 98% of our orders within 48 hours, and the rest within 7 days max as a general rule. If that's not good enough, then as the owner of the company I dont know what else I can do?

Dave and I started our business in '07, just me and him, and today we have 7 employees in house, and 2 outside, 5 reps, and we'll be adding more employees in the next 6 months. We have been very, very fortunate to be where we are. We sure the hell didn't get here because we don't build good product or that we dont know WTF we're doing...

The WHOLE reason we left our section here, the ONLY reason, lest there be any confusion, was so we could step back, correct the problems, and spend some SERIOUS time and energy on making sure that EVERYTHING is fine tuned down to the last detail. We couldn't do that effectively, and still try to maintain a high public profile, so we backed away so we could make us a much better, much stronger company.. We're not totally done, but we're damn close and trust me, we've got some very, very good things coming.. Trust me, you ain't seen the last of us, not by any means...

This post just gave me optimism that some day soon I'll have one of your alternators under my hood. It's nice to see that you've brought alot of those processes you depended on others to get, in house, and not only recognized the problem areas with your business but are working as hard as you've been to rectify them and continually improve not only the quality of your product but the quality of the customer experience as well. Kudos to you and the crew.

I appreciate, rob, that you take responsibility for the company and it's mistakes, and I know that with such a broad variety of customers, it may be hard to keep up, especially when you talk to one person, and hear something completely different from another. But anyways, back to the point, I want you and everyone else to know, since I was the first to say it on this thread, that although I've hear more than a few horror stories about waiting time on alt's and parts, the quality and performance of DC power alternators are incredibly outstanding. You have a great company going, don't let anybody bring you down.

I like how you go from bashing DC Power, to then going and jumping on robs nuts praising him and saying how you can some day soon have one of their alternators....

Its one thing to be hated for posting honest views of a company that you had nothing but bad luck with, but it is completely different to say something bad about the company over and over, and then be like oh ok thats cool I want to run your stuff once the company reamed you a new one... You look like a tool.... :trippy:
