  1. -Resistance is NOT Impedance. -Volts * Amps does NOT equal Watts in AC land -You can NOT use an AC voltmeter and AC current meter to get true power unless you are powering a resistor and are using a scope or clipping detection device. I don't care what your friend the "electrician" said. -You can NOT use a DMM to measure impedance -Clipping is NOT DC -There is NO SUCH THING as Watts RMS (though we use it in audio) -WTH is "Box Rise" -The word "subsonic" to describe low frequency audio is TOTALLY incorrect -CCA wire is NOT OK -Class D is not better, it's cheaper WTH is Class D? This sport is more full of bad information than the gossip mags at the checkout stand. Something needs to be done.   2. you basically just want to pay attention to the Uncertified numbers, since that is measured how most will tune their amps. Certified it tested until there is 1% distortion, Uncertified ignores distorting and just looks for clipping, Dynamic shouldn't even be thought of as anything of importance. Its how much power is put out over 1/10th of a second blurp from the amp. So its more like that MAX power rating everyone says not to look at. They market it to say the dynamic test is how much power you get on music and the others are tones, but how many songs do most people play that only have bass notes that hit for 1/10th of a second? you are wrong bro. The dynamic test is still RMS. It is not "max", "maxx", or "maxxx". It is not peak. The test does use a pulse rather then a 10 second sine wave but it hits hit fast and hard for about 10 of those "pulses". It mimics the strain on the amp it would see when playing something dynamic....like music. That test is legit and should still not be confused with peak numbers at all. In fact, i have found most amps don't do THAT much higher of a number from non-cert to dynamic burst. Usually it's a little higher, but not much. Due to the different amplifier designs, some amps kick ass in dynamic burst, some only see a small increase. But again, it isn't to be confused with a "if lighting struck it" situation because that is far from the case.

  3. Well, as an update... my 4 1600 Brutus '08 models made it through this weekend.... (Yeah- as in 5 years old) Demo after demo, then did 2 Street Beat runs back to back at full tilt on antique floppy suspension subs (150.8 peak dropped to 149.7 b/c I wasn't paying attention to voltage), then did more demos for 15 minutes playing the same track at the same volume.... and after all of that.... the amps were as cool as cucumbers. At the show there were two dudes talking crap (about everyone's systems) but also about Hifonics when they saw my amps. ...funny, they didn't have rides in the lanes or even cars there with systems. Hmm. I still ain't even mad.

  6. I was hoping you'd pull that answer...you respond to my post comparing 50' to 50'...and then make an example of 20' costs...care to see how that doesn't work? Especially when I had almost 300' of wire. Please use the same math and factor 300' CCA to OFC

  11. I can't get over people who argue with these test. Of course none of these are going to be real situations, because it's not real. It's a controlled test that's highly accurate in what it is testing. Nearly 100% accurate in WHAT IT IS SET TO TEST. Steve and D'Amore built an amazing product that works. It is supposed to be a controlled test, not a crap shoot like a "real world" test playing music. Like Cody said it's a general IDEA. I say keep it up, these tests are awesome.

  12. Umm, I have a potato that can do 38 legit, 29 certified, and 40432 dynamic. It's ok because I set it with an o-scope so no clipping.

  13. You are 100% right. And Dynamic RMS.. I've heard it all now. Even if an amp puts out more power "dynamically" that is even measurable compared to constant output, it wouldn't matter to anyone.. 1- The cycle algorithm for SPL Meters are not effected by dynamic bursts so the potential output power dynamically is of no importance. 2- For continuous output, dynamic peaks in the output will not be audible to the rest of the frequency range that would currently be in use. So, we can actually say it is like peak because if it does not help in competition nor for music, then people will only benefit from that specification as much as people benefit from peak ratings.

  15. i guess it just depends on your situation. For me, mine kick on at 100f. By the time the "chamber" (that the amps are sitting in) hits 110, it is 60% then at 120f, it's at full speed. Seems to work good. Then again, on our HOTTEST days, it is hard for my fan system to keep up. It will do much nicer in the more mild weather. I mean, if my fans are pulling in 125 degree air (from asphalt level, back by the back tire) and the chamber is already 120, you can imagine it isn't going to cool very well I can get that thing up to 130+ easily in there. Just on the hottest days. I would say from Sept to late June, i am golden. July and August are rough

  18. I would like to see this too cause I dont use dual inputs. I have always gained on the meter when using dual inputs. Now I have the tool to test and show what causes those gains. I am expecting the numbers on the 7.5k test to go up when I can feed it proper current. The 5k and 7.5k both use 2 power and 2 ground inputs. On my bench right now I am using dual inputs with 2awg wire. I believe that the 5k is getting the current it wants but the 7.5k still wants more than it can draw through those wires. I am hoping to see a substantial power output increase when switching to a larger wire. At the very least it will be an interesting test to see what happens. I may also order a spool of CCA wire to test vs OFC as well.
