  1. You may not hot swapped, I'm leaning towards the LC-1 being the issue and possibly blowing the pico. There was a recent LC-1 issue thread, where one of the wires inside of it had broken it's connection and caused problems. Take the LC-1 out of play, and see if your amp still protects. If you're still getting noise but your amp no longer protects with RCA's plugged in, then it's probably the pico. If amp still protects, swap HU's and try again.
  2. That's what popped into my head. If the excess noise disappears when he uses the kenwood, and the 5k stops protecting with RCA's plugged in, then that would definitely be my guess. Since the amp comes out of protect with the RCA's unplugged, that leads me to believe it's something in the line of those. How did it test when you took the LC-1 out of the loop?
  3. Ok, last update at least until I get my new bits from 12vtools. Deadened the rear hatch yesterday, no pics, and ran a dedicated front to rear ground. I think what I'm going to do is try and find the second row captains seats that were available for the NBS escalades/yukons and put those in, designing and building the amp rack to sit between them (assuming there's enough space in between). That should give me more room in the rear for the enclosure for four 15's. Hopefully I get the bits before next week and can get started on glassing the doors and pillars. If not, it'll be sometime next year before I can update again. Stay tuned.
  4. Got the WeatherTech vent visors and mudflaps installed. Top is the day i bought it, bottom is today I want to delete the roof rack, and I'm undecided about the side steps. Need to tint the Windows one day, but that's no big deal to me. Gonna pull the rear hatch panel off and throw some q-mat on there. Might run a dedicated ground to the front battery from the rear batt. Can't do anything about getting wood cut for the front stage until 12vtools gets some new bits out to me. Cheap bits are just that. Cheap. Time to get some recommended quality.
  5. Well it's happy birthday to me. Wife got me a few things Not pictured, she also got me weather tech vent visors and mudflaps. I probably won't get anything done today, because she decided to skip her clinical for school, and since deployments coming up I'm gonna spend as much time together as possible. She's making me coffee and a bacon egg and pepper jack cheese bagel right now, and for dinner we're going to Texas De Brazil.
  6. So I should just keep them in the doors then. Alright. Thank you. It's supposed to stop raining here tomorrow morning, so hopefully I'll be able to start some work
  7. Why is that? Unless you mean that due to what I said about the area being cramped. In which case, that's what pushes me away from the kicks, but I'm also drawn to it to see if justtttt maybe I like it. I think I just need to buy some spare panels and go to town and see what's up.
  8. Idea just occurred to me. I'll ask because I don't know and hopefully someone with more experience than me will have an answer. So, since I can't run the L8's in the kicks because of the lack of room, if I test fit the L6's for the kicks and there's enough room, would there be any issue with having the L8's in the doors for midbass, and the L6's off-axis in the kicks for mid-range? And if that will work without issue (assuming all things perfect ) how should the L8's be directed in the doors? On-axis or off? Man I hope someone sees this cause I really don't want to make a thread for this question if it's something that won't work the way I'm imagining it in my head.
  9. Second Singer hairpin, or shit ton of second skin.... I'm thinking get the second singer because I'll need more alt once I hook up the two 2-channels. And I'll upgrade from the 3.5k one day I suppose.... Thoughts?

  10. That will be a factor that plays into effect of what spider you should choose. If you plan on giving the sub rated power, and don't play music below tuning to the point of unloading, then the regular spider will be fine. If you plan on giving the sub more than rated power, then you'll want a stiffer spider to help control the subs movement, and make it harder to reach the mechanical limitations of the sub. Hopefully, someone with experience using the different spider configurations of the DC Audio subwoofers will chime in and be able to help you choose.
  11. 8ga direct connect is just that. Direct connect instead of push terminals AR cone is a Kevlar cone with a wider surround Spider upgrade: "Stiffer suspension helps with reaching the mechanical limit, but of course there are trade offs. A big one - a higher Fs. Extra spiders when spaced or stacked enough will also help with coil rock. Bottom line - just adding spiders is just like any other "solution". It is not always the best idea, but it can help in many situations. Depends on what you are trying to achieve". XL softies upgrades coil and spiders to XL sub parts.
  12. Well, I just tried a fitment test for the L8 in the kicks, and I can definitely do it on the passenger side, but the drivers side is a no-go. It's a smaller panel, the hood release is somewhat in the way (no, I won't relocate it), as well as other things that make that area cramped. So, both the L6 and L8's will be in the doors. Saturday I'm going to deaden the rear hatch with my leftover q-mat because I never got around to it and it needs it, and when that's done, I'll start modeling out how I'm going to do the doors. Maybe some progress pictures by Sunday night? We'll see. Oh, and I'll be redoing the cutouts for the L1pro's and L4's, because practice makes perfect, and they're not perfect.
  13. thanks yeah I've been super busy, I'm not gonna be able to make it up for the TDH show but I'm planning on going to SLAMOLOGY Sweet. Looking forward to the videos

  15. Goodness, you have been busy in this way of life. I wish I'd be able to make it to the TDH show this year to get a demo from you (assuming you take a ride up to my neck of the woods). You're an inspiration.
  16. four AA Chaos 15's on my SQ-3500 non-walled is what i'm thinking. leave for deployment, save save save all the monies, come home, buy second skin, tear apart interior, etc., finish HAT front stage, buy four chaos', build new enclosue, rock out. i'm estimating $2.5-3k

Whats the policy on vaping onboard? Designated areas only?

@ Orion - yeah, only in the designated area. which sucks cause all i smell is smoke when i go out, but you can't win every battle.

@ duck, thanks man. I just couldn't get off of them cold turkey.

  21. maybe. im not sure. i don't have any issues with the straight bit though. especially not when i have the circle jig attached as well. my freehand circles on the MDF were definitely rough. Thank you for checking it out. i don't feel as if i'm one of the more experienced though, as this is the first vehicle that ive done any fabrication and staging in. it's been a learning experience each time i try it. practice is making it better though. this will be the fourth time i think i've done my door pods, first time on the pillars
  22. Could you please add CC-1 to my tools list? Thank you Virginia Beach, VA 23462
  23. Lower resistance = less efficient. Therefore, to answer "help with coming up with the most efficient setup", the 7500 at .67 would be more efficient. Which still won't be very efficient.
