    iPhone 6+ iOS 8.3 A week or so ago mine just started opening up "uber" instead of the site when I'd try to click on a thread. Not always, but sometimes. And then two days ago it started refreshing the page automatically saying "an error occurred, page refreshed automatically" or something along those lines. If it happens again I'll try to catch a screenshot

    Just got pissed off real fast. A car comes driving down the street with their music up loud listening to Jay Z's Tom Ford (stock speakers, no subs) but turned up loud enough, and I can hear the sound of a fucking baby crying coming out as they pass as well. Your baby is crying and you've got the fucking music turned up to try and drown it out? What the fuck is wrong with people?!

    The newest addition to my power tools Jigsaw attachment for my B&D matrix. Home Depot surprised me with the shipping time though, when I bought it the message said it wouldn't be available for store pickup until July 9th thru the 15th, and I just ordered it yesterday afternoon, already picked it up today. Kudos to Home Depot. Now, for round 3 of making my door pods. Hopefully for the last time.... At least for a while. Just wasn't satisfied with the first two

    JL 12W1My buddy gave it to me because he thought it was blown, I hooked it up in my 92 Sierra and fell in love with subwoofers (never had a desire before then). Shitty amp on a good sub, and I wish I never sold it. I want to try and get it back if I can, it's a friend I haven't talked to in a few years so hopefully he'll still have it next time I see him.... Whenever that is.

    Never heard of that brand, maybe someone else has. But really, any 12v Battery will work with any 12v battery, it's just that when they sit without being charged/discharged and they have different resting voltages then the difference between the resting voltages will even out between the batteries, possibly shortening the life cycle of the higher resting batteries

    Have you tried XS powers OEM calculator? Another option is to just measure the battery tray dimensions and find the biggest battery to fit in those dimensions.

    If it's a daily driver then yes. The recommendation is to not let them sit for more than a week or so when mixing AGM and Lead-Acid

    A gain limiter would be interesting. But I guess you're right. The man hours to design it and then the materials to produce it would be costly compared to an already working product. Because the more people clip, the more damage they do, the faster it dies, then they buy another, putting more money into the company. Although, I will say I clipped the ever-loving fuck out of my kicker cx1200.1 before I understood how to set gains (3/4ths of the way up ftmfw right) and that thing is a tank, even at .5 ohm when only rated to 2ohm. And it still works perfectly to this day. It's definitely a stout amp. Maybe there's a reason why they're products are priced so high compared to other brands that offer more power for less money. Reliable brands that is.

      No, you are right. There is certainly the possibility of a similar way to manage a form of automatic gain control, but not in the way I was thinking. I'll definitely have to do some more looking into it, just a different direction.

      Look at home audio where you have no gain to mess with, i guess car audio could do the same thing, but i really don't know enough about the why to give an opinion on it.

      I think when there is an audio input, like a TV output (or something that isn't controllable) to a home audio receiver, it emits a consistent level of output (say doesn't exceed a given output voltage, sort of like a maxed unclipped headunit) and the receiver volume is just your gain knob.

    Right you are. I didn't even think about that. Well, that ends that. Damn. It didn't even come to mind that the voltage changes with volume adjustment on the head unit too. Welllllll /thread If any mod wants to lock this up to prevent further discussion of a pointless topic now that the variable I forgot has been brought to attention, that would be great.     So, to start off, I'm posting this in the D'Amore section because I hope it will get the attention of Tony D who I'm quite sure knows more about amplifier circuits than 90% of the people on this forum. I know enough about electronic circuitry to do my job in the navy, which was a lot of different courses crammed into 9 months. I'm no pro, but I can get by. Second, for those who don't know what AGC is, it stands for automatic gain control. It is used in a lot of communication type radios and systems. AGC takes whatever input voltage comes in, low or high, and adjusts the output to be the same consistently. It is by no means a new technology in the electronic world considering the age of some of the things it is used in. For all I know it's used in our everyday radios/stereos/head units (I really don't know). As for the question, why aren't we using automatic gain control in our amplifiers? Why is that not incorporated into the design of the circuit boards? With my recent testing of my preouts from the pioneer 80prs (there's a thread about it) I discovered for myself that the AC voltage your head unit outputs (via the RCA preouts), varies with the frequency you are playing in order to set your amplifier gains. So why is there no AGC in these amplifiers to constantly match that preout voltage coming in? It would create a more consistent output power to our speakers, which is what we all want anyways correct? Granted, you would still have varying output power due to impedance rise, but I believe that it would be a higher output if this AGC were incorporated into the design of the audio amplifiers we use everyday. This question hit me like a brick wall this morning, and I've been itching to ask it all day long. Is there a reason it is not used for this application? If so, why? Is my thought process wrong? Or maybe my test of the RCA outputs varying AC voltage was inconclusive due to my use of a cheap $30 DMM from Home Depot? I don't believe it is, but if someone can prove that wrong, please do. Please, discuss, ask questions, whatever. There's a lot of people on here smarter than I, and this is definitely discussion worthy in my mind, so any input is welcome, and hopefully the great Tony D himself, and hopefully Tony C too, will grace us with their words of wisdom in this area, being designers of some amazing circuitry themselves. Thanks!

    Came home to find my fuses waiting for me today. Unfortunately that one that doesn't say 350A in white is a 250A. So there was a little mix up when they packaged it I guess, but I've contacted showtime electronics and am awaiting their reply. They've had great customer service so far, so I'm sure that this will take no time at all to be corrected.

    Thanks man. Im gonna make new pods though. Im not satisfied with them. This fiberglassing is tough to get right. And unfortunately do to their shape, that self-adhesive wrap I bought doesn't stretch over the curvature of the pods, so that's a bust. But, I bought it and have plenty, it'll look great on a sub enclosure

    You could try sending a message to AMI customs (owner of the black nasty), he has a maxwell cap bank, and snow drifter I believe built one. I can't recall anyone else on the forum who does though.

    I feel accomplished. Did my first circuit board soldering today. Sort of. A couple of my lights on my gauge cluster broke loose and it really bugged me, so I broke out my cheap ass 30w iron and made the repair. Not a great achievement, but it's the little things in life. Now I just need to replace the tach stepper motor so I can know what my rpms are.

    The carbon fiber vinyl wrap for the door pods came in today, might try and get that knocked out after the wife leaves for school. Can't tell in the picture really, but it messes with your depth perception a little, should look decent in the Tahoe, a good color contrast against the door panels I think Pics of the finished product after the work is done

    So for Memorial Day, Showtime Electronics gifted me with a $25 credit for being active duty. I did not ask for it, but I appreciated it and their support of the U.S. armed forces, whether it's active duty, veteran, reserves, national guard, or those who have given more than rest to defend our nation. When they sent me the email with the credit, I marked it "read" and left it alone. Today, I decided that since I have an alt that can output a little more power now, and will be running dual alts in the near future, I might as well upgrade my fuses since I only have 250A in the holders. So I bought some 350A fuses for front and back of two runs of SHCA 1/0 OFC wire. Bigger fuses = more power and louder right....? but for real though, just getting it ready ahead of time.
