    Well I put the not finished door pods in. I threw some paint on them for some color, but I'll sand it all off and finish sanding them smooth. They're pretty rough looking, but I got music again. Duty today so tomorrow when I leave the ship I'll get to work on them again. I love the PA's. Loud, clear, and sharp notes. Thinking about using Velcro to secure the pods to the door panel. Anyone done that before?

    Been putting off getting a spare key made for the Tahoe.... And today is the day I lock my keys in the car... Locksmith on the way, key will be made afterwards

      Do you have automatic locks? Just wedge the door a little and stick a long rod and pop the lock or pull the handle

      @karkov when I bought it the owner only had one and I just kept saying "next time" whenever I was at Home Depot or Walmart.

      @ahmed I spent an hour doing that, the only "rod" I have being a wire coat hanger, and it just kept bending every time I got it on the unlock switch. So I gave up.

    When I was setting the gain on my SAZ-2000D with the DD1 whenever I turned the gain just to the point that the DD1 clipping light illuminated the amp would make a buzzing noise and as soon as I backed off the gain both the light & the buzz went away.The sundown amps have some sort of clipping detection built in with it and it's pretty much on point. This was my SAZ amp, not sure about the newer SVCs as I've never owned one. Same thing with my SoundQubed amps. They start that buzz/hum once you're clipping. My kicker cx1200.1 does not though. You can clip that thing like there's no tomorrow, and it won't make any buzz or hum, won't even get hot. Pre-DD-1 life...

    Got the AQ 90x4 back today Opened up the box and found this though -__- I hate packing peanuts But! After I got them all cleaned up and out of the crevices of the heat sinks, it looks just like it did before. Like a used amp but I'm excited to hook it back up and have some damn music again!!! Too pumped!! Now I just need my PA's to get here, and I'll be a happy camper Thanks for checking out my little build

    Today's progress: Pulled the old alternator. Here it is next to the shiny new Singer 270 270 installed Voltage with no load At some point in the near-ish future, I'll snap a pic of voltage at idle with the music full tilt, but not today. Went for a ride to test and full tilt it only dropped to 14.6 (~1.7k rpms). I'm satisfied so far. Door pods fit good, only one gap that isn't going to be visible so I'm not worried about it. No pics. Need to mount them to the door still but that's after they get some color on them. Only issue installing the alt I had was the new 3/4inch shorter belt being a bitch to get over the pulley, and the stock charging wire lug was a little small to get on the bolt, started drilling it a little bigger, it caught on the bit and the bit found my finger. No worries, all is good, and more updates will be coming before long. I have a feeling a new box will be in the picture very very soon....

    Picked up a package today 270A 6 phase hairpin powder coated blue to match the Tahoe, and I'm itching to put it in. But that will be a project for tomorrow. Got a little dog tag shaped keychain And everything in the box (no severed head...) I've got a couple hours before the sun goes down. I've got a horrendous headache, but I'm going to work on gap filling the pods where they sit in the door panel (thanks mark CAF for the helpful videos). Tomorrow I'll pull the stock alt and belt, put on the new alt and shorter belt and crank 'er up. Ordering the soundqubed pro audios here in a minute too. I'll try to get pictures as I work on it this weekend Edit: also, SoundQubed is sending my 90x4 back this weekend, hopefully be here next week, and here shortly I'll have tunes in my ride again. Then it's on to box building and sound deadening (as funds are available of course).

    SoundQubed says my issue with the four channel could just be a bad RCA grounding, because they can't duplicate the distortion I was getting. Guess we'll see what's up when I get it back. Good news is, their pro studios are back in stock, I'll be placing my order this weekend.

    No. It will detect distortion at any frequency. You only have 40hz and 1khz tones on the CD. If you have other frequency tones (clean and of the same attenuation of the 40hz/1khz tones you used to set gains) you can use those. Because different frequencies can distort at different levels in the HU, and amplifiers.

    Good and bad thing about still having subs/amp with no mids and highs: it's much easier to find all of your rattles :/

    The only way someone can fry their shit using it is by not understanding how the tones work. They think "oh, the more negative I go with these numbers the louder it makes it, I'll use -15dB" and then when they're playing songs recorded at a higher level at full tilt, it will get clipped to shit in the amp, causing heat (bye-bye amp), or if the amp hasn't gone yet, then they're sending that nasty signal to their subwoofer(s) and causing heat in the sub until it's gone. TL:DR You have to understand how test tones at different levels work with music in order to not fuck your shit up like the "others" you claim to have seen @ohio45113

    I feel you. I found out where the shops are around here, went to a few of them, checked out what they offer (services, equipment, prices to see if maybe I want to purchase from then instead of online if there's something I want) and then based my judgementsof the shop off of the quality of work they do in pictures of their builds. The shop I recommended doesn't have any equipment I want, but they do some great work. Others around here, not so much.

    I really enjoy fiber optics class. Polishing those connectors is tricky to get down though. In other news, soundqubed sent my AQ 90x4 to their "secondary tech", so been without music for a month now, who knows when it'll be back. Es no bueno. I need music to and from work.

      I traded my car in March of 2014 so that was when I pulled it out. I dont remember when you bought it now. its been awhile. Whats up with it. You had to send it in?

    Try buying a new harness. A bad solder could be causing voltage drop causing you to turn the gain higher.

    Thank you for the advice. I'm still not ready to paint the pods anyways. Need to do a little bit of gap filling. But I do appreciate the feedback.
