start by listing points of why it should be illegal and then why it shouldnt. One reason it shouldnt be, is because there is no proper way to distinguish "loud" from normal. It's subjective.

While you have a very valid point, IMHO if you have all brand new batteries, this doesn't really happen. Not true, Certain AGM batts may rest at 12.8 while certain wet cells may rest at 12.6. Even brand new, fully charged. DONT MIX TYPES I have AGM batteries in the back that rest at 13-13.1, and my front flooded battery rests at 12.8. I can turn off the car, come back 2 days later and everything is still sitting at 13-13.1. So whatever parasitic draw caused by the front battery is negligible in my case. The life of your batteries are being cut down

Different sizes are OK as long as they are the same brand and type battery. Ideally they should be the same size but different sizes will still work. The main issue is that when they are of different types, one may have a slightly higher resting voltage than the other. Even if this is a few milivolts, the higher batt will charge the lower batt, when that drops down then it will feed back off of the lower batt. And this happens over and over and over and the plates heat up and cause the batts to wear down prematurely.

haha, too bad it had nothing to do with distortion. It was due to the power compression on those weak v1 cones. 25kw of power pushing on them through massive backpressure just collapsed the cones. Google found the vids from Myspace I think and suggested I migrate them to YouTube so I did.

Pretty dang tall surround. Have you had any similar surrounds to test with to see if there is any buckling or crinkling under high excursion? If so, I know of ways to diminish and eliminate it.

Dropping to 4 18s would most likely yield better results. i.e. be louder and sound better

Physical Magnet size of a subwoofer has little to do with power handling and performance. Rather it is the geometry of the magnet design and it's material. For instance, I carry multiple subwoofer brands and some have a 1500w model that uses a smaller magnet than another brand's 1000w model. Now how loud they get totally depends on how you install and use them. They all have the same potential to get loud. Key points to look for when choosing a subwoofer are 1. Fits into you power budget. i.e. is if you plan on running 600w rms or more to each woofer, you should choose woofers rated at least 600w rms or higher. 2. Fits into your price budget. 3. Aesthetic appeal. This is how good it may look to you or in your install. This may not be important to some. 4. Durability. This can be determined by the type of parts and materials used and its quality of construction. User feedback helps figure this out. And it is not true that Chinese woofers are less durable than US woofers and it may surprise some that even the top woofers out there (Fi included) Produce products, at least in part, in China. So production location should not be a determining factor in durability. 5. Box specs. Just make sure that the recommended enclosures can fit within your install and they fit within your listening tastes. 6. Availability. Need to be able to get them before you can have them.

Id mark the ground wires by wrapping black tape over them at maybe 6" increments. Can be useful in the future.
