  1. Like the title says, I'm looking for an Ascendant Audio SMD 15 or 18, any condition as long as the motor is good. Payment via Paypal, shipping will be needed to Fi/AA HQ in Las Vegas. pm me PS if anyone has seen a for sale thread on the SMD recently - hit me with a link
  2. wow, so much drama over the leads, LOL .... I'm not a big fan of leads done like that (not that there's anything wrong with them, just doesn't sit well with me), but as far as I know you can get the AA subs with intergrated leads like the Fi's Can't wait to see this build going though, the RF 360.3, the high XMAX 12's - gonna be a great system
  3. What's up everyone! So you guys are probably used to me posting stuff on Team Sundown Russia with everything being pretty much 100% Sundown gear with a few Skars or Obsidian thrown in to the mix. This time we went a little out of our way to pick up some awesome Fi BTL n2 12's (Thanks Scott! thanks Am!!) here we are unboxing, busting balls over how stiff the spider pack is and generally bullshitting in Russian We plugged them into our in-shop Audi A4 sedan, which has lately become our test mule for just about anything we can get our hands on. It's not sealed off, subs forward, 6" port firing to the side....it's usually used for door open demos at meets and what not, so we set it up to meter that way..it generally peaks 29-30Hz and is within a db from 28 to 38hz, dropping less than 2 at 25hz. Does great on all types of music, moves quite a bit of air and is generally a surpise to most folks..... anyhow, enough rambling. Fi BTL n2's in the box we usually have a Sundown SAZ3500D in there wired to 0.5 (BTLs are also d2's), but since they were obviouslu begging for moar powa we let 'em have it and uleashed a brand new Sundown Audio NS-1 amp on them ( we have clamped upto 9k from one on a big 12v battery bank, but here we are likely pushing closer to 6k considering how it drops to mid 11's) ...still, plenty power for sure Electrical can use an upgrade from the stock alt....should be able to fit a Mechman unit on there soon. all the batteries are XS Power - 2 d5100's, a d6500 and the top secret D2250 (120+ Ah)....almost 300Ah worth of bats and a mixture of Shok Industries comp 0awg and XS Power cable so far we have 151.1 on a tone and 150.9 playing Gucci Mane's mi casa su casa and some random footage Subs are taking the power great, no problems at all. we're gonna see if we can clamp some power figures tomorrow and see what the box rise is. Maybe tweak a few things to up the score some
  4. yep, we clamped a clean 1450watts @ 11.6v ...the sk1500.1 are great amps based on customer feedback over here. can't wait to get the sk4500's in
  5. So after getting to play with the Skar Audio VVX subs - http://www.stevemead...-audio-vvx-12s/ we were anxious to try the amps of the same brand.... and here they are, in Russia, posing for a quick photoshoot along with the awesome SMD DD-1 and CC-1 that we got from Steve We already had the VVX12's out of the Audi (and sold actually as quite a few people were very impressed by their abilities) and the Sundown z12v2's with d1 coils in.... so this meant we could take two SK1500.1's and and run them bridged @ 1ohm (0.5 nominal per amp) Gains were set using the SMD DD-1, to ensure that there is no clipping. here's a good vid playing Gucci, moving quite a bit of air and being slightly loud with 148+ @30hz on the meter (I know it's hard to see in the vid) and here's the clamp of the power figures @ 148.4 we got 2930 watts of clean power from two amps with a rise to 2.5ohms and a drop to 11.6v.....this is also after about an hour of testing and playing music on drained batteries...... which is damn good, especially at this low a frequency Overall, the amps are great, very well built, sound extremely plesant and are stable below 1ohm Good job Skar Audio!
  6. have you tried other amps? not tryin to shi on AP, but some amps can do rated at 45-50hz, but fail horribly on lower frequencies
  7. nah, we just have the seatback out....goes right back in when needed. we had the SA10's in 4th order order in there ported through the ski-pass which was loud and moved major air, but suffered on faster tracks
  8. So we've naturally been keeping an eye on Skar Audio over the past year or so due to the questions we get here in Russia from the people that follow our builds....you know, the usual - what do yoy think about Skar subs? when do you think they will be available in Russia? how do they stack up against so and so sub? so we had to get some As most of you already know - the quality and overall fit and finish on these subs is amazing. everything from the full-size dustcap to the magnet boot is just the way it should be So we popped the into the shop's Audi A4 sedan box is just a shade over 4.5 cubes net with a single 8" flared port firing to the side...on paper tunning is 37hz, but it peaks much lower due to the loading effect of the port firing into the fenderwell amp is a Sundown Audio SAZ3500D @ 0.5ohms with two XS Power bats and Shok industries wire....the stock alt in the audi is a dog however, so voltage easily drops below 12 so, on to the scores with the subs fresh out of the package, with no break in we managed a 147.4 @ 30hz this was apparently no sweat for the subs and the were laughing at the power.... which was clamped at 2791 watts on this run with a drop to 11.6 volts and rise to just over 1.1ohms.... very impressive then we tried 30hz and were rewarded with a 148.00 !!! the subs obviously need more break in - we clamped 2640watts this time with 12volts and slightly over 1.2ohms then it was time to let them wang full-tilt ob a pretty rough track full-tilt for 3 minutes on a saz3500@half-ohm metering 146+ the whole time with no hint of coil-smell = win in my book overall - we are really impressed with the subs...they pound the lows, move air and can put up numbers stay tuned for moar vids as i get them uploaded
  9. Many thanks Steve! we do love the DD-1 and will have more videos of it soon as more and more of the guys on the team get theirs. can't wait to play with the CC-1 as well
  10. Ok, so some our Team Sundown guys got their NS-1's and clamped them on a resistor...this basically means there's no rise the resistor pack used for this test is 0.7 ohms Power supply 8 Stinger SP 2150's resting at 12.9v measured 80 volts 114 amps voltage drop 11,8v Power: 9120 watts guys said the amps is a beast in terms of low impedance stability, stayed cool the whole time the vid Effficiency 984 Amps of draw at 11,8 volts 78% efficiency at 0.7 ohms is damn good
  11. I know, right? I mean, it's one thing in the videos, but when you have it in person it's such an easy and quick process that you wonder how you ever could do with out one before
  12. What can I say, it's an awesome product! We just got these the other day and can't get enough of playing with them. Really easy to use, and you just immidietly know what's up with the system, takes all the guesswork out. Eventhough we have a big ole soviet-era oscilioscope in the shop we rarely use it in the cars, mostly for testing amps...the gains are usually set by ear and based on our experience - which is fairly accurate as we have quite a few years of experience, and know when to back off when beating on a system, but it's rarely 100% clean signal. So here's a vid we shot the other day (we also had a bunch of pics, but those are on the camera still and need to be uploaded...we will get those up later) - sorry in advance for my sometimes incoherent rambling, I'm not that used to the camera just yet. LOL the actual gain setting part is in Russian as that was done by Drugban and Vic now this was like the perfect example of what I was tlaking about above - we have the Obsidian 18's on a Sundown SAZ3500 @ half-ohm in the vid, and when this was initially hooked up we pretty much eyballed everything as usual. The subs were actually fine, but on some tracks we had them getting a bit too warm - we knew there was some clipping looking at the voltage drop.... After we set the gains with the DD-1 on the deck (the Sony unit at the Audi starts to clip at 35 on the sub channel) and the amp (video above) - perfect! zero issues, no coils smell at all.... I can't wait to use this to set up my system, which being a BP4 means I can't exactly smell coils with the sub being in sealed chambers oh yah, here's the vid we left out with setting the HU Thanks Steve!!!
  13. the efficiency is crazy on them...it is so much better than any other amp we had a chance to play with that it's almost magic.... I actually had to get creative and talk one of my customers into buying back his amp just so I can have 2 for my build. sorry for the long wait on more results from Russia, the past two weeks have been extremely cold, like minus 20-25 celcius and since our new shop is a big building we have trouble heating in up enough to get alot of work done, especially testing.... the fact that there are office building in the same area doesn't help either as they complain about the noise and vibrations, so we have to do most of the loud stuff after 6pm
  14. you want a full on video with the clamp, or just basic feedback? we clamped on of the team guys last weekend - SAZ3500 @ 0.5ohms on a single z18v3 - just a bit over 4k on a 40HZ tone iirc ...XS Power D3100 in the trunk...for refenrence the car is a mis-sized hachback and does 150+ sealed from the cargo area
