  1. What could possibly be the other piece, I thought fidelity was the main goal of a Sound Quality vehicle.
  2. not really. i only take exception to this guy (ihatepunkrock) telling me my system won't be "sq" because i have a lot of power AVAILABLE to my woofer. That's bullshit. Other then that, i know what he is TRYING to say. SQ is not just a "sounds good" thing. There is a lot more to it then that. He can direct that at someone else besides me though. Im no peanut, i didn't just start hooking up systems yesterday. SQ is in my view that makes most sense, short term for High Fildelity, The reproduction of sound trying to sound as close to the original sound. I don't get why people think if you run a lot of power, you're taking away from the SQ, it's what you do with that power that decides sound quality or not. besides that, i can turn the subwoofers down to a nice clean level. Just because i have a lot of power AVAILABLE to the woofer, doesn't mean its always on it. I don't typically drive with the bass slapping hard as hell anyway......you can find me listening to music at normal, clean levels 99% of the time and 80% of the time it ISN'T rap music. I love my beats but i listen to other things most of the time. I have found that the better I get my mids and highs sounding, the less over the top bass I actually want. That spot where the subs blend seamlessly with the front stage is incredible to me. Especially with the amount of classical music I listen to, the depth of sound that a well balanced sub stage adds to the music is truly incredible! I keep my eq flat, if the song needs the bass, the bass is there, if the song doesn't need the bass, then the bass doesn't appear. I expect bass when I'm listening to rap music, but when I listen to Pink Floyd, I expect the bass to behave and appear when needed. I agree on the mids, and highs, having good mid's and high's makes more songs enjoyable, having just a good sub stage but meh mid's, and high's, you'd just want to listen to bassy music all the time cause the mids, and highs suck.

  4. With the gear you're running, you're better off buying a new bumper yourself, and fixing it yourself. Well, the shop I'm taking my car to did fix it up right when my car broke down, they are like Triple A approved, but are expensive. I only changed my mind when my dad offered to pay half after the argument. Still hate mechanic I don't know.
  5. Yeah, I'd change the title if I were you
  6. I've heard great things about both of them, it's really up to you on what you decide. Ask people running either about what they think.
  7. Yeah, another thing I don't like about mechanics, is the fact I'm gonna have to pay for them to dick around, and they call it "labor"
  8. that takes skill, skill that I one day hope to have. I fucking hate working under the hood. It's like open heart surgery but a great skill. My room mate's girlfriend saw me taking out my alternator to get it fixed and saw me trying to fix the timing belt on my vehicle..... her response was "why don't you just take it to a shop?" ..... fucking pisses me off. If I can fix something by myself instead of being charged out the ass to have a simple job completed then I'm going to do it myself. my other room mate was getting advice on doing a system on his brand new ford focus when my room mate tuned in and said "just take it to a shop and get it done right"..... WTF did you ever see how great of a job I did on my car or are you fucking blind and that ignorant my rant ends here. long story short I couldn't fix the timing belt because the idler pulley had gone bad and I didn't have proper tools to fix it. I trust no shop guys at all for the most part, took my dad an hour of argument to have my timing belt done at a mechanic when I get the money instead of having a good friend of mine who's good with cars to do it, damn tensioner made me change my mind. I kinda don't trust mechanics cause I feel like when I have something fixed, they are gonna fuck up something else, so they force me to bring it to be fixed, so they make more money. Audio shop guys, loololol, I'd be like "no touchy of the audio"
  9. Audio Technix sells OFC 8 gauge power wire for 60 cents a foot or you can get the 10 gauge wire, which is 2 wires together(negative and positive) for $4.50 per 5ft for OFC. I bought the 8 gauge before they released speaker wire kits.
  10. Yes, cause women think having a $200 purse is all the right in the world, but when it comes to guys having legitimate investments, they bitch about it cause they have nothing better to do.
  11. I had the exact same situation when I was using 16 gauge wire for my sub, when I switched to 8 gauge, made a huge difference cause I wasn't restricting current. 16 gauge, well at 2 ohms, can only transfer 300 watts, lower impedance is even worse.
  12. Hmm, that odd about the ipod, but you should see if you can find music that's unclipped in the 1st place
  13. It's all about that 1411 lol Though I do have some songs that I got from bandcamp that are 96khz, and 6144 kps wav., though my ipod can't decode that, and virtual dj pro won't play it, it's like 50mb a minute.
  14. Think you'd be better off flying to Cali for a demo, he's not gonna drive that far, sorry to burst your bubble.
  15. Meh, don't like mp3, not even 320 that much, I only use it when I can't find the flac version but love the song.
  16. honest question when wouldnt you want to raise your sound stage? when it doesn't NEED to be raised you guys must know some sq voodoo then ive never liked tweeters in the doors. but then again sq is subjective id love to hear it just to really understand but for now ill just take your word on it Sounding good is subjective True sound quality/fidelity is not, when trying to accurately reproduce music as close to realistic as possible. On other notes: The Lexus turned out to be a beautiful top notch install, and I bet it sounds amazing in person. Of course you always do great work Steve, wish I could hear it in person.
  17. The crap from Wal-Mart I would agree with, but a lot of aftermarket will blow away stock, whether you buy nice components, or get creative with parts-express.
  18. Yeah, I'd either set it with 0db tone if you listen to everything or -5db tone if you don't listen to boosted stuff.
  19. for just 1 grand you can buy 2 better subs You can buy a pair of Havoc's or Fi Q's for the same price as 1 w7 13
  20. Well, I'm glad SSD's are getting cheaper, close to $1 per gigabyte, and dropping, want to get a 120gb ssd for windows, and games. I had a 512mb mp3 player as my 1st mp3 player, sucked lol, then I got an 120gb ipod classic for christmas, felt happy, though using only mp3's made a huge mess inside my ipod, cause I never knew what I wanted to listen to, then the 120gb broke, sold it, and luckily got my 160gb for free cause my friend thought it was broken, though he's not my friend anymore. Nowadays, I'm very organized with my ipod, making sure every album has all the songs, album art, and such, though I'm at 5411 songs, and have only 3gb left :/ Wish apple made a 1tb ipod, but the 1tb 1.8 harddrive probably won't be made for a while. Biggest I can go is with a 256gb 1.8 zif ssd, which at the price it's at, no way.
