So I put a new Samsung 55" LED TV on layaway and should have it out in about 4 weeks. Currently in my bedroom I have a very small LCD tv that has worked fine for the past couple years, but I decided that I needed to upgrade. Recently when my family went on vacation I took along my PS3 and a few games (mainly GTA 5) so that I would have something to do during "down time". The TV that I hooked it up to was a 32" Samsung that I'm pretty sure was an LED. And it was burnt in bad on the left side. I quickly realized that I do something ALL the time that I really shouldn't do and that is when I am playing a game (like GTA 5) I will pause the game and leave the room for a little while, long enough for the "Controller Disconnected" screen to appear and I sometimes leave that up for awhile and I did end up slightly burning in that image to the 32". (My bad) On my LCD I have currently, it is not a problem, but I feel like it could be on my new LED. I realize I could just turn the TV off, but I have a bad habit of leaving it on.

I guess my question is, is there anything to prevent burn in?

Sorry for the long post!

I thought burning the image into the screen only happened on plasma's? if it happens on leds that would be the first I heard of it

Edit: here's a link to samsungs site about burn in: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/SupportOwnersFAQPopup.do?faq_id=FAQ00001261&fm_seq=1429

Try running this on it.

Make sure you turn it to your tv's max resolution

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.

Another good one, only 720p though.

I've heard of image retention on an LCD but never burn in on an LCD. Only on a plasma or CRT. Image retention is not permanent and goes away after a few minutes.

I wouldn't worry about your new LED TV you are getting cause it's just an LCD with led's for back lighting as compared to fluorescent lights found in older flat panels.

You can burn imagine into almost anything. At my job I see old tube monitors and even LCD monitors with shit burnt into them. It's the same image for days and days.

On black screen on my old HP plasma (one of the first plasmas off the mayflower I'm pretty sure lol) I have burn in of sports center on the left side telling you what's coming up next, and the the bottom and bottom right it says ESPN and SC. I'm due for a new tv so I haven't worried about it! Only has one HDMI slot, only 720p or 1080i capable and weighs like 250lbs for a 50 inch tv. But anyway in my settings on the tv I have a "white wash" setting if you have something burnt in. I've never tried it tho. My dad has a samsung LED tv and plays ps4 on weekends for a 4-5 hours and I've never seen burn in!
