I have one kid(1000$), i am married(1000), my wife was full time student and got the max (1000) back for student tuition. I also claim my wife as she didn't work at all.(1000) then I made over 42k last year and payed in like 6000$. So I got back a big part of that. Also I live in South Dakota)witch has not state tax) and work in iowa witch and I'm not sure how but that helped me to Max of $1000? But before she went to school we both worked full time and together pulled in 80k a year. And still would get like 5k back at tax time...
