Resting Voltage; Are You Guys Full of Shit?

Recommended Posts

Batteries are only meant to be cycled a certain amount of times in total. In my experience they will not accept as much of a charge as they get older.

But also, with a brand new battery that has NEVER seen alternator charging, one can train them to sit in the low-mid 14s without much trouble for 20-30 minutes after charger is off.

Ever notice, most of the loudest street class SPL cars in the world are never seen running?? BC charging the batt with the alternator prevents a battery from being properly trained by a charger. The loudest street class SPL cars are trailer queens.

30 mins after seeing a charge, your calling that the "RESTING" voltage?

My 2 juicebox agms sit at 13 installed in the truck for a few days then 12.9 for weeks. And they are about a year old. I have had them on a charger only a handful of times over the summer because of #stockalt life at the time.

From what ive seen 12.8-13 is about normal

  • 1 year later...

I remember back in 2012 when I bought my brand new XS D2400, it measured 12.3V out of the box. I was pissed. They could have at least charged them before sending them to me (bought from audiosavings ).

My XP3000 came out of the box at 12.7V

oh

Hmm. I don't buy that many batteries so I had high expectations of everything being perfect out of the box =_=

It was a good thing they double boxed the battery because the outside box looked beat up:

then inside was another box and a lot of foam:

If you read the paper that comes with all XS Power the first thing it tells you in bold italic letters is Proper Charging is Crucial! Charge before initial use!

It also even states this in the instruction manuals on the site.

http://www.4xspower.com/Dseries-Instructions.pdf

As for any new battery no matter what manufacture, or what type it is, or where you bought it you should give it a full charge before use.

You have no idea how long that new battery has sat on a shelf at said store or warehouse and this is why you should always give it a full charge.
