Rear doors.  The hole is a perfectly transposed circle, but hard to tell at this angle.

Got some firmer rear springs.  5kg/mm spring rate (GM Performance springs were 3kg/mm).  They're too stiff and too low, but they only cost me $136 delivered (BC Racing).

Too low but damn it looks good

So I measured sprung/unsprung heights to solve for weight supported.  Then used that value and the desired ride height to get unsprung height of a softer coil.  Then I hit up BC again, asked for 4kg/mm springs at the newly solved length, and they are sending them this week.  Yeah its another $136, but thats rather cheap in the grand scheme.

Next weekend Im taking my rear doors apart so I can weld them up internally.  #SLAMOLOGYCRUNCH

Perhaps there are spacers you can use to lift it just a bit?

Like this kind of thing..

Looks killer though! I dig the 'steampunk' kind of vibe from your fixtures and color choices.

Yeah, couldve dicked around with spacers and such, or, spend 5 minutes measuring and calculating the correct spring.  Jon at BC Racing is the fucking bomb at customer service.  He can get damn near anything, so I should have the correct ride height and spring rate coming in soon.  I prefer to make zero compromises if possible.

Thanks man, I was originally going for 70s/80s HI-FI woodgrain cabinetry (like the nice stereos that that many of our parents had in the living room growing up), but the build has grown its own personality over time.

From left to right: Stock rear spring (2kg/mm), GM Performance spring (3kg/mm), BC Racing-sourced spring (5kg/mm), and another BC Racing-sourced spring (4kg/mm).  The last one is juuuuuuust right.

Quick install.

40611499190_9a13572b56_k.jpg

Then I took my doors apart.  The window motor mount (on the door shell) is cracking.

27549225497_0911a7874b_k.jpg

I drilled the cracks out awhile back to keep the cracks from spreading.  It seemed to work, but the metal was squeaking bad.

27549221547_1f6fe0fbb9_k.jpg

Here's the other door.  Way worse.

27549219567_5850173f1c_k.jpg

Cleaned it up and started tacking.  This is 26 gauge steel so its a FUKCING pain in the ass to weld with a Hobart 140.  I need a spot welder.

27549217187_5213ac73f1_k.jpg

Then I burned through.  So I ground back down and filled all the new holes in.  Voltage set to lowest, feed rate at like 10-15.

27549214427_a74088af2d_k.jpg

All holes under this washer are filled.  The ones left over will be filled when the washer gets welded on.

27549211977_2d2a45a558_k.jpg

DONE.  Haha!  Success.

27549208687_9d4044edb8_k.jpg

27549203797_370fb00815_k.jpg

Then I put a press-nut in that hole, and cut a 1" tall piece of wood with a holesaw

Some double sided tape and foam

45mm long M6 bolt and now this door panel is even more secure.

41696321234_91a89f7e4d_k.jpg

Decided to get the trunk done for Slam.  Grabbed the carpets out of the attic and hacked them up some more so that they'll fit.  I had already modified them from the last setup, so some holes are left over.  Also gonna clean up that rats nest of wires this week.

Big thanks to @snafu for the PDC.  This thing is class act.  Finally getting around to building it out.

All relays and amp turn-ons:

Here's how the connection looks with the waterproof grommet

Jumpers and lines and stuff.  Also installed the blue bars that hold all connections in place

More to come this week, diidnt have time to finish today.

Just finished the last coat of clear on the amp cover, here it is WET AS FUCK

41696315234_c73c046909_k.jpg

It was beautiful outside today

41696312994_abda87f666_k.jpg

Here it is with the seat in normal position.  Nice shelf for a lady's purse or whatnot.

42369438682_e521fcb80a_k.jpg

It looks short but its made so that the seat can slide all the way back

41517101335_d0a162da1f_k.jpg

After a year and a half of having a walled car, I finally finished the top trim board.

41517097765_53ffea877c_k.jpg

Thanks for checking it out, more to come this week.  Gotta get those final touches done.
