You have 1 major issue. If a weapon is drawn, you damn sure better use it. NO weapon should be drawn without the intent of firing. If my weapon comes out of my holster, shots will be fired. If you draw your weapon and do not discharge, you now open yourself to brandishing charges. If shots are fired you have at least a shot at a self defense claim. Moral of this story DO NOT pull your weapon unless you are going to use it.

My answer to this is simple and would most likely keep me out of jail. If I feel that my life or the lives of those with me are or could be in danger, shoot first answer questions later. I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Scenario 1. At the point hes out of hte store hes no longer a threat to physical harm. You shoot him you go away. Once the contact is broken and he retreats you kinda are over a barrel. If that 20 dollar product is worth the 60 grand or so in legal fees to try to get off then have at it. It probably wont end well. Scenario 2. If you are going for my gun in a car you are basically in my car. IF I have the ability to accelerate and Im not in park we are about to go for a serious ride. If I'm in park or boxed in and I can draw someone is getting ventilated. Its tough to say in each situation. I say this every time it comes up. I never ever ever want to have to shoot someone and I never ever ever want to be put in the situation where I have to make that decision. I'm a much calmer and more mindful person if I'm carrying because I don't want to be int he situation where it can ever be said I escalated. i'm also hyper aware of situations going around me and have a really good sense of when shit is about to take a turn for the worst. Its so tough to even try to interpret though because it happens so fast. One of the first things I remember someone teaching me when I started shooting matches is that you have to train at speed to get better at speed. The very first match I shot I had a target roughly 7 feet away that was one to the body and one to the head on the first target. I actually missed the head shot. What isnt hard is to judge what happened. If anyone ever wants to see what its like to have that adrenaline flowing and how easy it is to misread something under speed and you are within a few hours of me just let me know. We will get you out for a match in the spring and you can see just how crazy the adrenaline flow is in a tense situation.

#1 I would consider it shoplifting andtry to whoop his ass or at least try to when he shoved my dad. #2 Dude would be shot What about you Meade? he would shove him in the port and give him full tilt

situation number #2 i shoot the person every single time.. you go for my gun you better get it before i can or you're dead plain and simple you going for that gun im assuming you plan to use it on me situation #1 the gun is drawn.. what happens next depends how the other guy reacts

Question #1 If you and your pops own a family business (like the corner store)...... and someone 2 feet taller and 200lbs heavier than your father grabs something off the counter, grabs his shirt before tossing him violently into the shelves on his way out the door (with stolen product)....and you are packing. What are you going to do about it? Does he make it out the door? Or do you feel that is a simple "shoplift" and let it go? Question #2 You are not a cop. Just a regular person sitting in traffic. You are packing. Someone walks up to your window, punches you in the face and tries to take your gun. Does he live to see another day or do you just let him have your gun? the only reason i am asking this is because i know most of you guys have guns capable of killing a deer from 600 yards away with bullets that can travel through 10 houses before it slows down...just to protect yourself. There are some situations that you may not have to fire after drawing... A semi intelligent criminal is NOT going to keep advancing towards you if you draw a weapon on them... I will say that in more cases than not if you're forced to draw then yes you'll be firing that weapon but there are a few instances that you may not have to... Example (Criminal approaches you at Gas station and demands your $$ you create distance and draw on that person... Light bulb comes on for them and they retreat..You don't fire because then you're a murderer)

Actually you'd be amazed at how many cops have no clue what they are talking about when it comes to things like this because not a lot of them have handled a self defense shooting. You'd also be surprised how many cops don't actually know the laws they are supposed to "enforce" too.

In that situation, he was not pummeling the old man, he basically shoved him out of the way. I'm not going to shoot someone for that.If someone actually got into a fight with my dad...i still don't think i'd pull the trigger with him being so close to my dad. If someone is beating the life out of your dad I hope you'd shoot.If they just shove him and walk out the door that's when you let it go and call the police. I'm okay with my gun, but not good enough that I'd risk that shot. I'd much rather grab the closest heavy object...or maybe the gun itself and start bashing the guy.
