Washington + Snow
baaudio replied to SnowDrifter's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
I'm in Everett area and we've gotten a foot plus here. It cracks me up got people freak out about the snow here. I grew up in the North East and they've got their shit handled up there. They would laugh at this. But I've gotten around just fine. I've had the last two days off cuz boss doesn't think a stereo shop needs to be open in this weather. So I've had plenty of chances to collect money driving people around -
Get a basic viper or similar dei alarm. All you really need is an alarm with starter kill. If someone does have the other key that wants to get your car they will be able to get in but as long as you've armed the vehicle with the aftermarket alarm, the alarm will sound. They will still be able to get in but can't drive off with it

DD-1, Gain, and Bass Boost
baaudio replied to OrionStang's topic in SMD Distortion Detector (DD-1) Topics
If there's no distortion I don't see why not. Buy I agree with it throwing off the response -
Resistor to change the ohm load?
baaudio replied to IKnowImLost224's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
I don't think it works that way. -
really looking at that list the woofers are all pretty comparable. its really hard to say. ive had a 15" level 4 running on 2k for a month solid with no issues, prolly being clipped also. badass woofer really got down. i think the biggest decider is going to be what kind of enclosure you want to go with and such, then getting recommendations from the guys who have used those woofers in their ideal enclosures. just my $.02

So vans are gay?
baaudio replied to n8ball2013's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
ohh trippi.... lol this thing could really carry some bass. isnt there a van like this with 24 15s or something that twisteds buddy (anthony?) built personally i dig it. but the price tag is awfully steep for me. another option would be by an old church van or something, theyre generally this big. -
Hmmm the possibilities!
baaudio replied to CJ18's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
You gonna get the turbo 4 cyl one cj lol. It'd be cool to see a build in one of these -
Summitracing usually has good deals on xs power. I always shop prices online for batts. Usually xs batts are priced similar. But shipping is what I look for.

Kenwood decks-----Awesome. Kenwood Excelon speakers-----Good. Anything else Kenwood-----Meh. Just my opinion. Ive played with, heard, tweaked almost every kenwood product thats been released in the last two years. So I'm not talking out my ass. But like every company there will be some duds. It just happens when youre producing that much volume.

Kenwood KVT-696 has color change for buttons and screen. It's the Excelon model so you're gonna pay for it. My shop sells it for $750. It's badass though. 3 5v preouts my buddies excelon we just tested with dd1 and he can turn it up all the way with no distortion on the preouts. Otherwise the KVT-516 is an option. Has color change feature but 3 2v preouts. Still with the 2v preouts my kenwood goes to 34/35 with no distortion. Also kenwood x995, x895, x595 all excelon with 4v pre's. In the regular kenwood lineup there's bt901, 701, bt948hd, bt848u, 448u. Now JVC has some decks with color change features that have 3 preouts and front and rear USB. JVC is a sister company to kenwood so quality of product is decent. Only thing I don't like with them is the button layout and interface. Kenwoods have always seemed like the easiest decks to us IMO. Hopefully this helps you out some.

TRUCK GOT BROKE INTO!...
baaudio replied to matt402's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
If there's any bushes or anything near your car check those out. I had a buddy who had his faceplate stolen and they just threw it into the bushes. They tried getting his deck out but obviously didn't know what they were doing. Deck was an iso mount not cage mount. It's a long shot that you will find it but you never know. -
People are so dumb
baaudio replied to 99fullsizechevy's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
I don't demo in my neighborhood for this reason. Now people know what you have and you can become a target for theft. It sucks but that's the world we live in. But ya people are stupid, it sounds like he's just jealous. -
Does inner cabin volume determine box
baaudio replied to carshateme's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
Fs vas and qts are important factors from my understanding. Qts of .4 or less ported and .5 or more sealed -
I wouldn't do 5% on the whole thing. You're asking for trouble with that. Not just from police but you can't see shit at night when it dark. My explorer is 5% over stock in the back and 15% on the fronts with a short 5% stripb on the windshield. My recommendation would be 15% all around. If you want it darker do 5% in the back and 15% on the fronts with a 5% strip. I can't see past my front seats on a sunny day and not past my dash when it's overcast

wisdom teeth
baaudio replied to will77530's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
Cost is gonna vary by the dental place you go to. For me if I didn't have insurance it would have been like $1200. -

Just had mine pulled Monday. I was awake for it they just numbed me. Honestly it was a cake walk. All 4 of mine were through the gums. They had to cut the bottom ones in half to get them out. It was over in less then an hour. I got some vicodin and stopped taking it after the first day. It didn't even bleed that much. -
Haircuts.....

I cut my own. And have gotten much better at blending from when I first started. The hardest part is the back for me. -
Level 6 motor with a Level 5 Basket??
baaudio replied to Jason_D's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
This is incorrect. I have one coming that is being built with the 6 spoke basket. The thing about this though,is the Level 6 motor is so heavy that you MUST build motor supports into the box or you run the risk of the weight of the motor snapping the basket. Also there are no Level 6s left. There will be a new version sometime in the summer but no Level 6s until then. Funny. JL says you have to support the magnet on the W7 lol. But this situation seems much more believeable. I'd definitely support a level 6. How much does that motor weigh? 100+lbs??
