AD-1 Request: Solder vs. Crimp vs. Ghetto crimp

Recommended Posts

Interesting....

I guess that could be another thing to test in the mix. Silver vs 50/50 solder

didnt know that about solder, always that it provided the best connection.

singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.

Well, the way I see it. That solder, even though has less conductivity than copper, does not a single thing negative to your conducitivity. Because without it, everything is still going through your ring terminal regardless. Then when you use solder, it just adds a little bit more surface area for it to travel through. Correct me if I am wrong though.

I'll admit, half way through sanding that fiberglass in the rain and cold while I was all itchy I was definitely starting to question why i was doing this haha

Most people do. But what happens is... the solder works it's way in between everything, because that's what it does, and basically insulates it. It's fine for smaller connections, mind you. But I wouldn't use it on something where current transfer is paramount,

It don't get no better than this, cuz...

I've always soldered my connections...TFade actually brings up a point I never spent too much thought on. Now I'm curious

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
