  1. I believe we are going to do another run of these real soon. We didn't predict the demand of that piece would be so good.

  2. if your build is big enough and the comments are taking it over and making it hard for people to find pics, let me, roscoe or chode know - you will get your own UBL thread. I think its time i made a whole sub-catagory just for that since i to enjoy the pics but dont feel like sifting thru 1000's of comments for 10's of pics this option will be available soon!

  3. Also Tony/Steve, I am dead set on this if it can be arranged, I want the first production AD-1 that you release for sale to the general public. I know it is a pricey tool, but the best always are. Just dont let my fiance find out!

  4. You could use clamps to calculate impedance as long as you could guarantee no clipping. Two reasons for this: 1. The number on a digital multimeter will keep increasing after clipping because it is trying to measure the average or RMS value of the sine wave. 2. Clipping produces other frequencies other than the harmonic. 50Hz clipped will generate 100Hz, 150Hz, 200Hz, 250Hz and so on. So if clipping you would be calculating some sort of average of impedances at all of those frequencies combined. As you probably know the IM-SG works well to measure your impedance at any audio frequency you desire. I measured 4.0 ohms at 40Hz on my two 12s ported box in my Jeep. Then when using clamps and burping and recording max numbers it calculated to 3.8 ohms. The difference is I was clipping when clamping. Using clamps and doing the same test but making sure no clipping resulted in 4.0 ohms, just like the IM-SG read. Gotcha that makes sense. Would it hurt the dd-1 to be reading while I am clamping so I know exactly where to stop to ensure an accurate reading for impedance? I have always used the dd-1 with no load on the amp, dont want to use it with a load and damage it. Nope, DD-1 doesn't care. You would have to use 40Hz though.

  6. I do have one question for Steve or tony. Once the amp dyno is used in vehicle to see what type of power you are seeing with your amp and electrical, could you then use the "other" clamping method only to test different frequencies to find out what your reactive impedance is? This way you could then match up the impedance a you are actually seeing at 30,35,40,45,50hz etc and know how much power your amp is truly putting out.

  7. that being said, i think a 1/0 pos/neg would probably yield a higher reading on the dyno. How much? I don't know. I am going to set up a sick ass test bench for all this stuff and have all sorts of options available on it. I will be doing experiments on all sorts of scenario's.Once you have that set up, I want to see that sundown retested with 1/0, then again with atleast one more of those batts to see what changes. After all, this is what the amp dyno was meant to be used for right.... Test bench number are one thing, real world is completely different. Benching the amp just shows if it will do what the manufacture claims under ideal conditions. All of that gets tossed out the window once you put it in a vehicle.

  9. Me too. From the company to which my post was addressed, not some fanboy. Who are you calling fanboy? I asked a valid question about order/ship dates and times - WHICH could resolve the issue at hand if you would answer it. Sorry we aren't hopping on your bash-wagon.

  10. UPS doesn't ship on Saturdays, not ground. Great first post btw..... These threads drive me fucking bananas! You ordered something, they fulfilled it as fast as they could. They are one of the BETTER companies as far as communication and customer service goes. Fact of the matter is this: You ordered from an online company where an item has to be shipped to you. It's not an instant thing. If you wanted instant, buy local and pay the prices THEY want. That won't happen since you likely bought from Sonic because you liked their prices. Get over it dude, we are taking about a matter of a couple days, not weeks, and you haven't been wronged or lied to.

  11. Definitely interested in the temp gauges, and possibly the OM-1 Gauge. Although i have a Vu-Din, this would be pretty cool too. I'm waiting for an answer to Knowledge's question too. And since noone has asked, I'll just get it out of the way. What are the projected prices of these items please? Keep it up guys, I'm saving money for more!!

  12. Jesus the haunting memories. The guy I bought my '71 chevelle from had taken it to some valley audio shop and they charged him $1200 to put in the lowest end JVC headunit and speakers they make, they made "custom speaker holes by cutting through the back panel steel with TIN SNIPS, it's like a sharks mouth holding a speaker. and the best part about it? THEY DRILLED HIS "CUSTOM ENCLOSURE FOR 2 15's INTO THE GAS TANK BECAUSE THEY DRILLED INSIDE THE BOTTOM OF THE BOX. HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TANK ONCE I FOUND IT. But gasoline got all over the trunk panel for months and ate through the entire thing, needs replacing... New gas tank: And it's sort of hard to see how sharp and jagged it is, but they had to bolt it from the bottom because they left the metal bar going across in the way, real professionals. Thankfully you're here to help out Steve, but I'm mostly mad at the door panels! THOSE ARE FUCKIN EXPENSIVE FOR REPLACEMENTS! You'll be lucky to get the white set for less than $250 shipped, that shop should really pay for them........thats total bullshit.... If somebody fucked my chevelle like that I would do 11's on their face for days

  13. Maybe the 5 grand was to replenish their supply of electrical AND duct tape. They seem to be very fond of those two items for their installs. Sad to see a car with such potential get treated so poorly. Ill be watching this one Steve, great job so far. I'm curious to see what you do with the amps and the processor
