  1. Damnit. I bought this on sonix and thought I was paying for two but it was only one pod. In addition, the damn thing is bulky and inner diameter is too big! Going to request for a return label for this piece of junk.

  2. I'm in the market for some router bits for my new porter cable router
    porter-cable-5.jpg

I was reading one of your old threads and am wondering if you still recommend any of those router bits or anything different. I'm a n00b when it comes to wood working and just wanted to make sure I buy the most commonly used and right bits. Please help me choose out a bunch of bits.

I was looking at https://www.mobilesolutions-usa.com/router-bits and I have a feeling that site is selling overly priced router bits for its targeted audience of n00bs like me.

Anyhow, here was your old thread:

Lol. Why did duck get the Hammer? He was an awesome dude.

  3. Just bought these for mounting my amp to back of sub-box. The back of my sub-box was double baffled and built for mounting an amp I sometimes hear vibration noises from the amp.

  4. Thoughts on the Fuse Holder I've been using? https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_36278_Xscorpion-ANL-Inline-Fuse-Holder-ANL1010P.html

I'm stocking up on some more and was wondering if there were better ones. These has been working better than those damn twisty water proof ones that keep breaking or get stripped when I over tighten.

You wont notice any difference, your talking maybe 0.001 difference in voltage if even that.

The ones im talking about arent skyhigh, unless theyre rebranded? But the ones i have are super heavy, u can see them on my battery on my recent pic posts of my trunk on the charger.

      These ones look interesting

      https://droppinhzcaraudio.com/jims-machineworx-flat-5-lug-bolt-style-battery-terminal-pair/

but I need the ones where the battery mount is in the middle because I have a XS Power clamp down bar for my battery that might short out the terminals.

Toolmaker had these similar ones too but again it's hard for me to connect things without shorting out:

Here's the middle bar clamp down I'm talking about:

Oh ok i get what ur saying now, yah jims dont have any like that with a center bolt location. Unless you go with the setscrew type, they have those like this. But id prefer the bolt down with ring terminal style too.

  7. I just realized I had the SSF on my amp turned the wrong way when i was tuning it lol. This explains why my bass output was so low. Time to go redo it and this time I'll have it turned all the way to the higher number and work my way down as I follow this guide:

i just hook up a DMM to the amp, play a tone where i want my SSF/ISF at and turn it till i start to see a voltage change then bring it just a teeny bit back. same works for LPF.

I'm going out in the garage now to double check and do attempt #2 with setting the gains and SSF. I probably did have the SSF turned the wrong way yesterday. I want it all the way to 10Hz when I'm tuning not 40 Hz.

Gonna go redo everytihng and will post up a vid later. I'll probably still get the DD-1+ and CC-1 just to have it in my collection of crap that I own ~_~. I have a clamp meter collecting dust in my closet.

alright I just finished retuning attempt #2 my subs. Made a thread here:

Can't decide where it starts clipping on my oscope. I will definitely make a video comparison once I purchase the DD-1+ and CC-1. Oscopes are confusing as hell and I have an Associates of Science in Electrical Engineering ~_~

You might want to try getting another controller board that matches the drive, or flashing the firmware.  That might actually fix it . . . maybe.

  9. My box is tuned to 35Hz, so does 30 Hz for my sub sonic filter sound about right to play it safe? I'm going to retune my system from 0dB to -2.5dB for louder bass.

  10. Saturday is Lunar New Year of the Rooster!

  11. SMD DD-1+ and CC-1: confirmed my max volume on H/U, set my gains on sub DC5K amp, set my SSF, LPF all in under 15 minutes before going to work. Good product!

Still gotta do my 4 channel amp this weekend and maybe record it on video for fun.

I'll probably redo my SSF on the DC5K. My box is tuned to 35Hz and I have the SSF set to 31Hz but am thinking about lowering it to 28Hz.

Need to do more research on how low below box tuning I can go.

Overall, the SMD DD-1+ and CC-1 is nice to have if you're into car audio. I hope we can get an affordable SMD SPL Meter in the future. The ones people using now are like $1,000 :(

    1. audiofanaticz

      audiofanaticz

Usually you dont want to play any lower than 1/2 octave below tuning.

So if your tuned at 35hz, 1 octave lower would be 17.5hz so that would make a 1/2 octave at 26.25hz.

Typically 5-10hz below tuning, but it will vary depending on power, enclosure size, the size of the port, etc.

Love my DD-1+ and CC-1.  I am constantly changing around settings on my 4 channels for fun to change the sound slightly depending.  Love making adjustments to my sub amps using different overlaps dialed in by 0.1 at a time.  =)

I think you would be safe going to 28 Infrasonic

Thanks for the input guys! I'm trying to see if I can get the best out of my XLM2's before I change my subs later this year. Came across an interesting video here:

Definitely not 6k in that video... That sub isnt even moving being freeaired. No where near its linear excursion or even peak since the surrounds are not even being dimpled.
Must be a SSL or Power Acoustik 6k amp thats really 1500 watts rms. LOL

  13. Spent 1 hour trying to get the Hybrid Audio clarus midbass speaker grill on to no avail. Quality of the speaker sounds great but fucking speaker grill is poorly made and worst than china.

As a result, my left door has a speaker grill attached and my right door has no speaker grill. Fucking shit.

Have you tried installing your left side grill on the right side to see if the right would fit on the left?  Sometimes swapping parts helps.

Otherwise, you could reach out to HAT and see if they help you out

  14. Sub faced towards rear trunk lid with no rear speakers... feeling more air flow above my head with windows rolled up (also louder than when I had it fired into the cabin with windows rolled up).

Gonna test it with windows rolled down tomorrow to see if it gets even louder.

  15. The feels when you're so full after dinner you burped out a piece of your Tangerine.

I listened to it and he goes hard. Like, if you were to just listen to the song without watching the video or seeing who he is it wouldn't be taken as a joke.

  17. Hey, can you talk to your dealer and see if he can sell me a pair of Hertz HSK 165's to me?

My budget is $200 for a pair of midbass comps and this would be perfect for me.

Also, does he have any headunits for sale?

    Thanks man!

  18. I had a terrible dream where I was giving someone a demo but then there were no bass coming out from the trunk and when i went to pop the trunk to check, the subs were blown. Wtf?

Autoshop owner said he needed 2 days when I dropped my car off. I called on second day 1 hour before closing and he said he needed more time and will give me a call tomorrow morning. So... is it normal for them to not give me updates ahead of time if they needed more time? I thought it was weird that I had to call them instead of them calling me with the updates.

      Keith77

If its a small independent like mine if you are busy you tend to lose track of who needs to be called. I dont have  multiple "service writers"  that can sit and just make calls all day like you would get at a dealer. He may have lost track and forgot to call.

It's a small shop and he's had it since 1981. I think the business is mainly ran by him and his son (early thirties) and a few older mechanic guys. Last time I was there I can see his three year old grandson chillin at the front desk with them. I pretty much just showed up and payed the bill and shook his hand and said thanks for working on my car.

I asked him how was it working on the Camry and he noted that there were a lot of water everywhere when he did the valve gasket changing. He also asked me if I did my own oil change because he noticed there was something down the oil pan area that needs replacement (probably needs a new washer for the bolt).

Overall, he was a man of very few words but my instincts tell me he does good work when he needs to complete any given task and he's not afraid to keep the car for a couple more days to make sure it gets done right.

My co-worker was the one that recommended the shop and also let me know that the old mechanic owner there is just and old grumpy guy but does good work (he had 3 cars done there).

Also, I tried to ask the old guy if it would be possible to get dual alternators going in my Camry with custom brackets and he kinda refused that job request lol. Dude didn't even recommend any other shops that might be able to do it ( I guess it's not that common to have dual alts in a Camry).

  21. Any news on that new Sundown Audio sub that was suppose to drop around Summer time?
