  1. Does the cc1 measure amplifier output? Edit: my bad I just watched the video. I never knew that the cc1 had another function. So you would use the cc1 to turn the gain down on the amp that is turned up. Also when you find the max clean output from the head unit then leave it there as a reference point for the gain settings for all the amps. Maybe I misunderstood but it sounded like you were adjusting the head unit volume when you were adjusting the amp gains.
  2. I think overlap is something different. Gain matching is matching the amplifiers outputs so they play at the same level with a volt meter.
  3. Yes 06 and Skulls are correct. Since there are separate amps for the right and left channel they need to be gain matched. After you set the gain with the dd1 on your amps, measure the output voltage from each amp. Then turn the higher of the two down to the level of the lower one so they have the same voltage. Don't turn the low one up because that will cause it to clip. Please post some pictures, I would like to see this.?
  4. Generally 1/2 octave below tuning would be the set point for your subsonic. An octave is a doubling or halving of frequency. One octave below 40hz would be 20hz. One half of that would be 10hz below so 30hz would be correct. If all things were normal. Overpowering might require a higher set point. The subsonic filter slope probably has a 24db per octave slope or roll off. This will mean that the signal will be 24db lower at one octave below set point. The set point is where it starts to roll off so it will still pass almost the whole signal at set point. I would start with it set to 40hz and then slowly turn it down until the subs make a different sound or the sound changes or you hear any kind of unnatural sound. Sometimes the cone when it unloads will make an additional sound that is several octaves higher than the original bass note.
  5. The 8 track was the first mainstream recording that could be played in the car. The under dash record player never really caught on. The 8 track had 4 programs or "sides" that you could switch to. The tape was in a continuous loop and made it easy to set the mood when you had your girl in the car. Instead of relying on the radio to play the right song at the right time you could just pop in the cartridge and the rest is history. lol
  6. Cool stuff! Sounds like you have a place to go for summer vacation Steve. lol I liked the Alpine cassette tape changer and the under dash 8 tracks and radios. There has to be a longer video somewhere.
  7. Now that's thinking outside the box! There is more than one way to put subs in the back and this is a perfect way to utilize that space. Great work!
  8. That's it thanks man! It used to be that you could see all content and if you knew approximately when it was, you could go back down the list until it was found. I guess I will have to leave comments as book marks.
  9. How do I find content I have already read? Like if I decide it is too much to read now and go back later. Its too late. I have to remember what the thread was and the section it was in. I can't seem to filter to content already read. Only not read. I was trying to find that video of a bluegrass song that someone was doing of a song that originally not bluegrass.
  10. Try it both ways and see if there is any difference. Then you can let me know because I have always followed the directions.
  11. They had a DAT player back in the day that I wanted to replace my tape deck. Bass would make a CD skip and DAT looked like the solution, but the price never came down enough. Thank goodness for USB.
  12. The radio just clips in, no screws makes it simple for sure. Just say no to the triple decker. lol What are those neat little crimpers you were using on the bench?
  13. Let us know what they say. I would be interested to see if they return to normal resting voltage after a few days.
  14. Do the cases look swollen? Do the outsides look wet like they vented? If everything looks normal on the outside then I would guess that they are ok. maybe email kinetik to see what they say.
  15. It might go under 12 on peaks. To be safe, only turn it up until the volt meter starts to bounce.
