  1. So a buddy of mine was tired of having a heavy bank of batts in his VW so he decided to go with an xs 36k spl this year. We hooked up the lithium in the back and also left his d3400 upfront. Went out and tested hoping for some better voltage also.... well it was worse.... We started with clamping the alternator (6 years old and may have needed a refresh) and it was clamping 85 amps with the amp pulling a load. Messaged Mr. Singer and a few others and he said to go get a load tester and try the test again. In the testing we found that the alt was making 85 amps at idle when it was claimed to make 200. Also then we put a load on it and it put out 95 even under a load of 300 amps. We were ready to pull out the alternator and then someone suggested to disconnect the lithium and try it. We did that and alt was able to put out 175 at idle.... Messaged scotty to see what he thought and he told us to do the same and disconnect the d3400 and see what the alt clamped. Did that and it clamped 175 amps. So we decided to ditch the d3400 this year but before we pulled it we decided to clamp the run that went from the lithium to the d3400 and we found that under a load the lithium was actually feeding the 3400 before the alternator was. We found the alt was still putting out the 85 amps but the lithium was pushing amperage to the d3400 (120 amps of current) Anyone have a good explanation for this? Just trying to gain some knowlede. We plan on pulling d3400 and putting it in my truck and put a bank or 2 of caps in a d3400 case up front in the engine bay in his car
  2. I think that is pretty cool that in my last semester of college I get to take a class that is basically dedicated to the chemistry of batteries. Can't wait to help shed some light on all this drama that goes on with Lithium Batteries.

Dang heavy focus on lithium and even get to tour a lithium batt facility as part of the course. Thats badass.

Hmmm, I thought it was cool that I got to take a course called "Science Fiction" where we got to read sci-fi books and watch Alien and Terminator movies.  You win.

Looking through the material I think I'm going to like this class a lot. It was also a weird coincidence that my lab professor for another class works for a facility that makes lithium cells. I'm going to pick his brain in the next couple weeks

  3. Just the nature of the beast. No need to rag on lithiums because they make their power on the lower end of voltage that you want to use.
  4. If any of you have a facebook and have Gary Killian as a friend please go look on his page and read the gofund me on Ninja. I know it's a lot to ask to donate money during the holiday times but just take a moment to read what has been written.

  5. Pretty sweet that I can borrow someones alt bracket and take it into work and scan it, reverse engineer it, and have it recut whenever I want. I had a triple and then I tried to cad to make the quad work.

DId you get the quad to work?

I have sent out test ones to friends to try on their tahoe. Should know within a week or 2. Dual I worked on worked with some small mods

      That's actually pretty cool.

  6. Alts ordered, wire is on the christmas list and officially the rebuild starts. If you got a demo from me at slamology this year next year it will move a bunch more air guaranteed.

  7. Again very unhappy with how some companies do buisness. I have 3000 dollars worth of your equipment in my truck.... You'd think that you'd at least answer me when I ask a question as to where my stuff is that you are repairing. Been out for 3 months and haven't got an answer as to where anything else is

I am not throwing companies under the bus Dub. I'm venting you don't like it scroll down the like the rest of the people who did. And owner called me last night and got it straitened away.

Working on it. This summer when everything has worked out it'll be a big change for me. Fixing all the things that have been bugging me with my truck so I can finally be happy.

  8. I know you guys do a black and blue sale every few years... Just wondering when we are due for another? I'm looking at swapping amps and I think I'd like to look at some IA stuff
  9. Anything is possible. I have a tripple setup on my blazer with ac. looking to have 4 to 5 for next year. All it takes is time and material I don't know of anyone that has a dual kit for one though. If you are serious about it Robert J. (demobus) is willing to make some for almost any car.
  10. Never thought that someone stealing wallet was such a good thing. Bank accounts were frozen for 2 weeks now I have a lot of extra spending money..... Time for some upgrades to the old blazer. Might actually compete with it this year

If my bank accounts got frozen for two weeks I'd end up with late payment fees and no money.

Id be without electricity if my shit was due during that. My service provider dont do late payments. 3 days after its due they shut it off.

  11. Paypal has a credit option? 0% interest for any term you want up to 18 month.... Dangerous

Been doing that for years. Think my cut off is 5k or so. Love using it for payment on anything from amazon shit, to sending cash, to buying a pallet of shit. I like it. :shrugs:

  12. Things may be getting interesting for next year. In the talk for more power and a rebaffle here in the upcoming weeks. Hopefully the blazer can take double the power and upgrading the speakers.

  13. Well looking at other options for subs. Not sure who to go with. I love FI but it scares me with their lead time and recone lead time. I guess the next few months may be interesting

I saw the word lead but was disappointed it wasn't what I was smirking about.

  14. Awesome time at the show yesterday. I signed up for 3 classes but only actually made runs in 1. I did get best demo of the day and also did a 156.44 @49hz. My music run for fun was a 155ish for most of the run but because of ipod issues I only averaged a 49

No not legal. Legal was 53.7 I believe. It was a fun meet. I tried sealed for a while then swapped to door open. I demoed for prolly 15 min strait so I know that she can take it. In time it'll get louder

It will be getting a rebaffle here this winter. I'll be living with another basshead so may as well rebaffle to something stronger and louder

  15. Anyone know of any more c7 12s anywhere? Trying to pick up a spare or 2 for next year.

If you felt like coming to Chicago I know I can get you some. Jeffyboi doesn't come here anymore but he has some for sale

  16. Ordered custom tow straps for the blazer to get rid of the bent hooks I have up front. Then also ordered all the stuff for the stripper pole. Can't wait to get this blazer where I am happy with it

  17. Anyone have a good way to keep a windshield in? Losing my new one thats a month old.

Well I have on order some stuff to fix the flex. I figured a 1/4" plate welded to the roof wouldn't flex but I was wrong

I know a couple guys that needed to take bracing/deadening OUT to relieve some pressure on theirs. Also perhaps it only breaks at a certain frequency

  18. I missed the true point of this I guess. I still think you should try to bring it back and if it is then dead go from there. Basically you have run your batt through a deep cycle. It helped mine and they rest 0.2 volts better now after I ran mine through the deep cycle
  19. What I did to mine was to take a 12v starting charger and fed my 16v batts a 60 amp charge for a little bit and hooked up my intelli charger at the same time. When the voltage at the batts got up to a place my intelli charger turned on i unplugged the starter charger. Like I said it worked for me so I don't see why it wouldn't work for you... so when this happened to me I was talking to a friend and he was able to tell me it was a 30 amp draw by some math. (i may be wrong on this but it worked in my case to the T) If you assume the 65 ah rating on the batter (for the case of the 3400 a 3.25 amp load over 20 hours) to bring the resting voltage to 0 so over 21 days at 24 hours you have 504 hours assuming the batt was basically at 0 you divide the ah rating by the number of hours there was a draw on it 65/504 or about a .125 amp draw on the batt someone correct me if i'm wrong. Like I said it worked for me right to the thenths spot as to what I found my batts at
  20. I left something plugged in on my bank and it drew 30 amps for 168 hours total and my batts were down to .6 volts for the whole bank. Threw it all 12 batts on a 25 amp charger for a day and a half and actually they sit better now than they did before. If I were the OP I would throw it on the PSC 60 and watch it come back. If not I'll be happy to purchase your "dead' batt
  21. Do you have a phantom draw somewhere that is causing the voltage loss? There is where i would start if I were you
