same here. i used to set my gains with a voltmeter. I'd turn the stereo up to max volume, then turn the gain up while playing a bass heavy song until the voltage from the 12v line started dipping below 12v.

my mids are not really a car audio designed mid, but they kick ass in my truck. Bare components, you can try out. Actually built pods and stuff of that nature, wouldn't be advised to try.

It takes a while for the permagrin to go away. the first time he rolls up a grade loaded about 17k gross, and doesn't drop speed... yeah that big ole permagrin just wont go away

its crazy how quiet that truck is. You can sit in the truck, with the engine idling, hammer the loud pedal...and not hear a thing. It's crazy. love it steve. glad to see you picked one up, knew it was a matter of time. stoked to check out the magic you work on it when I head that way with my xp1k in tow.

Just a random idea, suggestion to these.... Clear cover on the top, maybe make a few that have RZR instead of SMD? It's looking like I'm going to need a single and a double, but would pick up a few extra covers just incase. Idk, idea. Would be neat but no biggie if it involved a lot of cost/time to make it happen. Trying to figure out how to use as many SMD products as I can on this RZR overhead stereo/electrical center build.

any ideas on water proofing super tweeters? spraying neverwet on them maybe?

It's not the housing that needs to be waterproof, it's the internals. If your tweets fill up with water they'll sound like shit.

Probably best to make something to cover them with, like a speaker grill material so to shed any water that may want to come into contact.

a '14 V car for under 20,000? how the fuck lol. The Gen 1 04-07 cars are $10-15k, and have some fucky problems. Theres a supercharged 05 on ls1tech for $14k right now. If it's still there in a month i'm gonna call the guy and make and offer, depending on what the bank tells me.

Do you already have your big 3 done? A dumb question to ask if you already have dual batts and a ho alt, but sometimes people wont, and you may have a dmax truck idk. I would add an XP3000 in the rear. Nothing wrong with those Duracell's if they are AGM's. Once they crap out, ya a pair of D3400's. With just a single scv-2k, and assuming a 4 channel, 3 batteries will be overkill with an AGM but it's always good to be overbuilt. Do you have a single run of 1/0 to the amp(s)?

I was looking at their products and at Tonno Pro's stuff. Tonno Pro has one for my truck that's right at $500 but it doesn't have a keyed lock, just two folding jams that keep it held down from inside the bed. Going to get a electric lock for my tailgate when I pick a cover up, wire it in with the secondary lock on my truck... drivers door unlocks first then a second press unlocks the rest of the doors, thats what I'm wiring it to.

I might look into building one, I have a friend that owns a metal shop that can get me aluminum diamond plate pretty cheap, I'll just have to figure the whole folding and keeping it sealed part out. Oh and he powdercoats, so that's covered too.

my HD5750 never got above 48C... my GTCX570 used to not ever get above 50C... cleaned the fins out and reseated the heatsink with AS5, didn't help at all

AS5 is a bit dated, i'd suggest Scythe Thermal Elixer 2 or if you really want to see a huge difference, the liquid metal stuff from Coollabratory Liquid Ultra... Put some of that stuff on my CPU and my temps were crazy low... Like 40C under load with a 4.9GHz overclock on my i7 4790K.
Also, AMD is known for hot GPU's only when you purchase a reference card with the blower style fan... I'd stay far away from those... You can adjust the fan speed to keep it cool, but at t...
