Raised around guns. Depending on if you are going for a full size compact or sub compact there are so many options. If you like the service pistol by the Taurus 92f same thing but with the the Taurus name. I personally carry a Springfield xd40 sub compact I love that gun. I also have a ruger p345 that is a very sharp gun. Nothing compares to a true 1911 though.

i purchased my first handgun about 3 months ago. a Taurus .40... to me for being my first handgun it felt right in my hand. ive put around 400rds thru it with no issues.

Glock, Springfield XD. Easy firearms to disassemble, reliable and inexpensive. 1911's are great guns but get more experience with firearms then jump into the 1911 world. Glock 19, XD9 Compact should fit the bill nicely. Don't put sooo much thought into what your first firearm should be because trust me, it will not be your first firearm for long..lol. GL
