Received property tax bill in the mail for the Tahoe. Go to pay it (not due until August 5th) and apparently I "received" a bill for the tax on the explorer too, which was due June 5. Would have been nice to know so it wasn't late. I hate late bills. Don't know where in the hell the bill went though...

Property tax on a car?
-
Yes. Not sure about other states, but Virginia does, or at least the cities in Virginia do. Not sure what the state gets out of it.
-
We just have a license plate renewal fee yearly.
Probably the same type of deal just a different name for it.
How bad do they rape you for it?
One of mine is $105 and the other is $145.

Everybody comes from the dark places of the Internet once they hear there's something they could win for free.. Good way to get new members I guess, even if some don't listen to reason.

Hopefully they all stay and not only here for the prize
-
Yeah hopefully. I don't think you count hoit. You've been here for a little while haven't you?
-
yeah...since '11...I was just a stalker for years, just recent years I've been asking lots of questions, answering when I can.

Anyone used this set before and able to give a review? Or link me to a good set to buy from Home Depot? http://m.homedepot.com/p/PRO-SERIES-9-25-in-Steel-Router-Bit-Set-in-Wood-Box-40-Piece-801002/205941541/

Next bits I buy are going to be from 12v tools.....have heard nothing but good reviews.

12v FTW

12v FTW fosho

Worst thing about battery powered power tools, the damn batteries don't last for shit. But they're definitely handy when you aren't near a power outlet. Might have these new pods done tomorrow, depending on batteries...

the new dewalt 20v lithium's are hoss as fuck. same with the milwaulkee 18v lithium
-
Get a power converter in your car. I had to get one when my heat went out and I'm glad I did.
-
Both the matrix and the dremel were gifts, I knew the black and decker wasn't going to be worth much for battery life as I've never had good experience with them. I thought the dremel would be better though. Porter Cable NiCads have great life. If/when I buy my next power tool, it'll definitely be either dewalt or porter cable. I've always liked my uncles dewalt's. But I do like the matrix because every tool needed for small woodwork (mdf rings in particular ) is an atta...

Just got pissed off real fast. A car comes driving down the street with their music up loud listening to Jay Z's Tom Ford (stock speakers, no subs) but turned up loud enough, and I can hear the sound of a fucking baby crying coming out as they pass as well. Your baby is crying and you've got the fucking music turned up to try and drown it out? What the fuck is wrong with people?!

Anddddd my would-have-been great idea is gone. Shortest circuitry discussion in the history of the world....

No, you are right. There is certainly the possibility of a similar way to manage a form of automatic gain control, but not in the way I was thinking. I'll definitely have to do some more looking into it, just a different direction.
-
Look at home audio where you have no gain to mess with, i guess car audio could do the same thing, but i really don't know enough about the why to give an opinion on it.
-
I think when there is an audio input, like a TV output (or something that isn't controllable) to a home audio receiver, it emits a consistent level of output (say doesn't exceed a given output voltage, sort of like a maxed unclipped headunit) and the receiver volume is just your gain knob.
-
I feel accomplished. Did my first circuit board soldering today. Sort of. A couple of my lights on my gauge cluster broke loose and it really bugged me, so I broke out my cheap ass 30w iron and made the repair. Not a great achievement, but it's the little things in life. Now I just need to replace the tach stepper motor so I can know what my rpms are.

After years of ordering Chinese takeout all over the country, I'm convinced they only learned a few words in English. "Hello? Phone number? About ten minutes".

say the word "Rat" next time and see if they react.

J/K lol I love chinese food but only from certain spots.

Been putting off getting a spare key made for the Tahoe.... And today is the day I lock my keys in the car... Locksmith on the way, key will be made afterwards
- Show previous comments 1 more

what happened to first spare key?
-
Do you have automatic locks? Just wedge the door a little and stick a long rod and pop the lock or pull the handle
-
@karkov when I bought it the owner only had one and I just kept saying "next time" whenever I was at Home Depot or Walmart.
@ahmed I spent an hour doing that, the only "rod" I have being a wire coat hanger, and it just kept bending every time I got it on the unlock switch. So I gave up.
-
Good and bad thing about still having subs/amp with no mids and highs: it's much easier to find all of your rattles :/
-
I really enjoy fiber optics class. Polishing those connectors is tricky to get down though. In other news, soundqubed sent my AQ 90x4 to their "secondary tech", so been without music for a month now, who knows when it'll be back. Es no bueno. I need music to and from work.

so then get ready to do it. You know how many times I had to do fiber runs? Too fuckig many.
-
Yeah I bet. Someone's always gotta break shit when you don't want it broke. When was the last time you used that 90x4 before I bought it? Besides a power on test?
-
I traded my car in March of 2014 so that was when I pulled it out. I dont remember when you bought it now. its been awhile. Whats up with it. You had to send it in?
-
I know this question has been answered in several threads, but I can't find one. What's the SHCA 1/0 OFC current rating for 20ft? I don't have that long of a run, but that will give me a basis

Yeah I thought I had read 350 but wasn't sure. That's what I'm basing everything off of. Thanks.
-
nice reedal...never hurts to keep brushed up on specs!
-
Not at all. It would be nice if they had one of those neat little charts posted on their site with their wiring.

First time using body filler ever.... It didn't last five minutes before turning into a patty.

Replaced tensioner pulley to find out the A/C compressor fucked up the pulley. Now I need to replace the compressor... Not high on my to do list.

I can fit two and still have A/C, maybe three. Everything for the A/C is on the opposite side of the engine bay from the alt location. I'm already planning on getting the dual bracket and keep the stock alt with my singer. I don't drop much on music as is with just the stock alt, D3400 under the hood and a D4700 in the back. Lowest I've gotten is 13.3. But I'm only wired for 2600 @ 2ohms/14.4v, so it's not like I'm pulling crazy amperage like most with SUVs.
-
Nice. My car can't fit two alts
-
I know my TB can fit two, I don't see how but it can with a bracket. I haven't seen a dual alt set up in a le sabre
-
Without a doubt, it's imposisible for me to do any kind of work on a vehicle without finding a way to cut some part of my body. It's the little ones that feel the worst.

the ones you don't know. it sucks when you wash your arms and you feel them
-
The ones you don't know for sure, cause I use hand sanitizer often at work, and I'll all of a sudden start feeling burns and can't even see any cuts anywhere, never even bled.
-
A/C tensioner is done-ski's. No using the A/C until that's replaced

I'm thinking of the compressor
-
Yeah, fuck a compressor. If that went out I would say fuck it I don't need A/C
-
Lol

Gotta remember to start putting on the gloves I bought months ago when I fiberglass... Sticky fingers, everything sticks to me

People that run active with supertweets, do you just leave that capacitor on there and say "thats where my mid/high crossover point will be"? or do you unsolder/take it off? never knew those were on there until i saw it in someones thread.

Cool. Good info to know. Thank you.
-
I had them on my aq/sq supertweets. One of the connections broke off, so I just crossed them over on the amp at 4.5k
-
if your running active, that means your not running a passive cut off..

Got new tires on the Tahoe, thinking about taking off the door moldings. One looks funny anyways from the clear tape or whatever peeling
