Well isnt the clamping taking the max output, not average music wattage? Because then I saw that you used the mode on the ad-1 that is supposed to be average music level wattage (that is if I understood your explaining of the two modes last night). And im not saying that would show that huge of a difference but it was just an idea I had to keep everything even. You moght have already thought of that too and used a true rms clamp and dmm but I was just wondering.

I've gotten a blowjob and picked up my iphone behind her back to see what email notification I got from smd before

Quick question when did you did the clamp run: you got over 100vac from your multi meter which seems awfully high. Are we sure this was clean power and not clipped?

I know there will be a bit of a difference, but something seems off if there is THAT much of a discrepancy.

If I do a simple vPtP to vrms conversion on your voltage reading, the numbers make much more sense. And I didn't see an oscilloscope when doing the clamp test. And comparing a reading from clipped power to one of clean power isn't a very good comparison, hence why I ask the question.

wait, a fosgate amp doing less than rated? ok, lets see the 2ohm test.

edit:

does the birth sheet for that amp say 1862 @ 4ohm? just curious.

Birth sheet is 1325 @ 4 ohms, 2260 @ 2 ohms, 3488 @ 1 ohm.

I thought it was a CP ?

Exactly, that is a huge part of the problem for most clampers. I know the signal was clipping some because I have 7dB of overlap in the system and played a -5dB track. Just trying to demonstrate that without knowing if you are clipping, and without knowing the phase angle of the voltage and current because of the inductive/capacitive load the clamping numbers are meaningless. The dyno uses loads cause a phase angle of 0 deg and it doesn't measure anything past clipping.

Tony whats the cost on one of these things looking like? Will we see any test on the popular brands being ran on this very forum?

here are my thoughts, i posted these on the youtube vid but ill put them here.

"Until the AD-1 can be produced and sold on a consumer level, I never see this really becoming the new standard for finding wattage. No matter how accurate the AD-1 is and inaccurate the clamp method is, there are too many people in the competitive scene who clamp, and WAY fewer who can afford to buy or find one of these to test over and over again at their homes. Some see clamping as accurate, which it isn't, others see it as power going from A to B, if B > A, then something is being done right."

A being test 1, B being test 2. Clamping being used as a reference point, so clamp 1 yielded 2000 watts ( inaccurate), but clamp 2 yielded 2400 watts( also inaccurate but an increase).

well go ahead and keep clamping then, the Honey Badger doesn't care what you do. It only cares about its next meal.
