Just wanted to share a few pics of what i hooked up today. The amp is sitting on a 14v XS power battery at 14.6v ish. Rumor had it that the DD-1 causes damage to a Sundown amp and i am here to say that is complete HOGWASH and just that, a RUMOR. I bought this Sundown amp just to show that it is 100% safe. I will post a new pic every few days showing it playing just fine. I will let it play for an hour or two every day for a week straight if i have to. The DD-1 has been used on the smallest nano-amps to the largest amps on the market juiced up at 18v DC. Every brand including Sundown. It just does NOT cause damage. I used a CC-1 to calibrate the crossover as well. I actually did make a video but the external mic i bought for the GoPro did not record any sound....i messed up an entire day of clips. i know exactly what your saying, just making sure any newbies to the dd-1 know. specaily the ones that beleive it destroys amps. still though for evertime the amp is set with a dd-1 and survives it is one more step above the other. to withstand such a force as a tool made to set a gain on an amp safely and still work great would mean it is one strong amp.

Glad you made a thread in our section to ask if the D3100 will work when in reality you were planning to purchase batteries that aren't even designed for the "system" you are planning. If you are getting $60 group 31 batteries, then all I can really say is good luck. You can get about $10-$15 for a D3100 if you take it and recycle the battery. If a battery the same size costs $60 new do you really think it is going to do what you need it to do? If these are what you are getting then you probably do need 20+ batteries.

Think about it, if this so called problem of dd-1's burning up only v1 and v2 sundown amps but not v3 then it's obviously not a d-1 issue but a sundown issue. But the real truth here is that there is no issue. For fucks sake, It's a he said she said bullshit situation anyway. I know these people and how they think. There is nothing no matter how good the evidence that will ever convince the people at dbr the dd-1 is not to blame. He will shift and move and put spin on his story to no end just so he can justify not repairing an amp. He is only looking to cover is bottom line. This fucking ass is using the name and popularity to bring attention to his company and get his name out there. He's just riding on the SMD brand to get word of mouth and free advertising. I never even heard of DBR until all this started. Of course if i ever need warranty work through him and he asks if i used a dd-1 i will shove my amp so far up his ass he will be able to taste the problem. edit: Took God's name in vain. Sorry. I believe everything that the dude has said so far, it seems like he's just planning for a system to save up for and everyone got mad at him for I dont know why. He said he works in a machine shop from 12-10 everyday so he probably had some time to make a bracket if the machine shop is properly equipped. I think you guys have just seen too many people that ask about these big systems and never pull through but honestly why does it bother you? Like does it really affect you if they genuinely want to know what they have to save up for? If people could just tell him the info he was looking for right off the bat this thread would have passed by and he would be content but now you make fun of him because he is an aspiring highschooler and turn him away from ever asking for more info on smd. This site has an amazing knowledge base but when you come off as a jerk to new people that actually have a want to learn more it turns them away from ever asking again. Oh and dd9515 king like everyone else said 22 d3100s is overkill and you should look into something like 4-5 d7500s

I love these,"can I over power my subs" threads. Why do you find it necessary to drive double the RMS power to a sub. You gain NOTHING. It is not going to do anything magical when you throw double the RMS to them. What it has a GOOD likelihood of doing is sending a lot of extra heat. Granted that they are well built and can take tons of power, but why are so people so interested in this? It's it just so you can brag and say,"yeah I am running 1200 watts to each of my SA12's and they're taking it like champs"? Also, youre but very likely with efficiency and impedance rise to see the full 2400 watts anyway. Do you really want to be that customer that has the story,"I was told I could run 1200 watts to a sub rated for 600 watts and it blew, I have no idea why"? Please keep it simple and buy an amp that does 1200-1500 and call it a day.

I guess I will show everyone how they work when I stack 4 of these in the rear on the wagon. Just waiting for FedEx or ups to deliver them......should be a strong start for amps
