  1. it's ok enough to try it imo. i wouldn't want to go much thinner tho. if it's in a trunk, you most likely wouldn't hear the port noise if there was any anyways. althought the more square/round the port is, the more efficient it is. but i think you'll be fine
  2. i try to stick to a 1:5 or a 1:6 port ratio with width:height. right now you're at a 1:4.167, so imo you'll be ok. it's still possible, but not likely EDIT: too thin of a port could cause it also, even with the proper port area
  3. i rigged up some 1x2's to make a decent compass. they're about a foot long and bolted together on the top. on one piece i have a drill bit pressed into place to keep point, then on the other piece i attached a pencil. can do decently large circles
  4. yes, heat is the #1 enemy of electronic components
  5. may be able to find some at some comps if you're in the right area. definitely at finals tho. most extreme van i saw in person was in the low 70's, and it was retired so it never played at the comp. i *believe* it set a record at the time way back when. don't quote me on that tho
  6. that's what i'd do. you'd gain better response out of both enclosures that way instead of a mediocre daily/spl box
  7. i wouldn't advise doing a removable slot port. it'll be hard to seal correctly, and it won't be attached properly. i'd prefer doing a square/rectangle removable port
  8. no LED light or anything on the amp to see if it's turned on? if not then yeah, put it on DC and check it at the amp. if not, also check all the connections. if it is getting power, put it on AC and check to see if power is coming from the amp.
  9. concrete/steel/wood and interiors made solely of wood. bolted shut doors and thick thick plexi or lexan. anything to raise a score just a tad. they're extreme for a reason lol
  10. generally mid 30's is what i like for daily use. but finding one for daily and competing are two different things. pretty much gotta pick one or the other
  11. a difference of a few hz won't play as big of a role as the box/port itself imo
  12. did everyone miss this post? i'd listen to this
  13. second to last line...'it seems to get louder and not distort as much as when i use the DD1' yeah umm....how do you know this? if you don't use the DD1, then you don't know you're not distorting. if you use the DD1, you'll be set at the point right before clipping, given you're playing a properly recorded song. anything higher and it's distortion city
  14. i was going to suggest one of those circuit breakers too. just have it go in to one side, out the other. and make sure the fuse rating is bigger than what your wire is fused at. you want that acting as a switch, not a fuse.
  15. has it been drying out prematurely? i've always kept my tattoos moist with aquaphor for the first few days then switched to vaseline dry skin creme. there's always some on it to prevent it from getting dry and scabbing over
  16. and i am quite confident in the accuracy of my calculator. i would not have put it out if there was more than a 1 hz difference. also, it just tunes boxes. does not mean any/every box will sound good in any/every vehicle.
  17. am i the only one who can't stand him?
  18. yeah, sucks that it happened but if they still operate it'll be an easy fix and with the right glue should last hella long
  19. why not just enjoy the workmanship and time into the build? it's not his, it wouldn't matter anyways. he's posting something he built. appreciate it.
  20. that looks like some really nice work there. and i love that color orange
