Too much power kills a sub, and clipping the signal is one way of giving it a lot more power (up to 200% more) without it getting much louder. This problem by itself would not destroy speakers, but it would not sound good. It has the same problem at 1kHz which sounds reallllly bad.3 points

Nothing wrong with that wave..... nothing ... distortion.. and no signal.... killer.. edit - and on a 0db track? eeesh...3 points

I am glad Steve sent me a message, we didn't forget but have gotten some massive shipments these last few days and for those of you who have unloaded containers, you know how long those days can be ! My apologies however, we will post the winner before nights end =) Thanks for everyone who patiently has waited!3 points

Not so often as much, but I still see batteries posted up for sale that the seller claims are resting at 13.1 and higher. I have used almost every model of XS batteries, both new and used, and charge them using the HF1215. The highest I have ever seen is 12.8x, but most times I'll get 12.6-12.8. Are these guys using a special charging method, are they full of shit, or do I just have "low end of the spectrum" luck?2 points

just like it says.... you got one of those garbage volt meters, with the adjustment screw on the back? Chances are, it will break soon. Even if it doesn't, how can you trust a volt meter, that you get to choose the reading? How ridiculous is that? If you had a DMM with an adjustment screw, would you trust it? For voltage? how about impedance? If you had 4ohm speaker reading 3.6 ohms, should it be ok to adjust it to read 4? How about if you were checking a diode and it said the electronic flows from A to B......but you didn't agree, so you switched it so now it reads B to A? would you trust that? Forget reliability, any "meter" that can be adjusted to your taste is really nothing i want to rely on. anyway, that being said, if you have a working or NON WORKING volt meter, of any kind, you can send it to me and i will give you a $25.00 coupon code towards purchase of an SMD VM-1. Our product is MADE IN AMERICA by the best engineers in the 12v business (IMO), highly reliable (should last a lifetime), very fast and highly accurate. You cannot adjust ours to suite your needs. It is what it is right out of the box. here is how you do it. Send Volt meter to: Steve Meade Designs, Inc. 2160 Bell Ave Suite C Sacramento, CA 95838 please put a note with your name, email addy, phone number or contact info of some sort and when i receive it, i will send you the coupon code. don't know what the VM-1 is? here is a link to more info: http://www.wccaraudio.com/smd-12v-volt-meter-smd-vm-1.html ok now who is in? NO LIMIT either! If you have 5, i will give you that discount on all 5. If you like, you can email us [email protected] and let us know your's is on the way so we will look out for it. Promise to make a youtube video and after i see it uploaded, i will return ANOTHER $5 bucks to your paypal accnt. How is THAT for a deal? or, if you would just like to buy one, and don't have a trade in... use SMDVM1 (coupon code) and save $10 bucks off listed price. thanks everyone!1 point

I just wanted to make an official post and welcome Bob and the crew from American Bass! They are our newest SMD Partner! At this time, they did not request their own section due to not being able to staff it but you can still post in the subwoofer section you will notice they have a few banner graphics up top and the sides of this forum though, you can see what they are about through that link and contact them there. anyhow, welcome to the board Bob, i will see you soon at CES!1 point

I can remember when the rule of thumb was to turn the head unit volume to 3/4 and then set gains...I know the DD-1 has solved a lot of that non sense...In my opinion its money, saved and well spent!!1 point

Then you know what you do? Go back home, wrap that bitch in a towel, and stuff it in the microwave for 15 minutes. Then bring it back and say it overheated. To Tony, Damn dude. +1 for the SMD GEAR!1 point

yeah you are right. that petty shit just bugs me. I should ignore it though.1 point

prob a bad unit. Most of the alpines i have used my DD-1 on didn't distort at all. At least not till the very last few notches like most pioneers, if at all. gotcha. this is a crazy perfect example to illustrate how this equipment can be useful for more than JUST gain setting. too bad people will only see the SMD name and auto-hate it. so..... let them..... I know man, I just feel like if people stopped worrying about petty shit, how far could this hobby be advanced?1 point

Seriously guys. its a chance to win a free radio, why all the disrespectful comments. Comments like these and sore losers are part of the reason there is no more SOTM, and you guys should be damn lucky that companies are still doing giveaways like these with how some of you act. Im sure something came up and is busy, may even be out of town for that matter.1 point
