to all those people who say "i can't win system of the month because i don't have 8 18" woofers and 40,000 watts"....let me ask you this, if this build was by ANYONE else besides me (because i can't enter) would it be a contender? i say this because me personally, if i saw someone do this build i would vote for it . A bass amp, a mids/highs amp, 2 P3 12's and some separates...not very expensive but it is what you do with it. You don't need the biggest and baddest to have a solid, clean, safe, reliable, great sounding, great looking system. Just gotta put your heart into it and have some decent practice behind you.

Time for the amp rack. Completely fan cooled and i will of course use an SMD TM-1 http://www.wccaraudio.com/smd-fahrenheit-temperature-meter-w-programable-fan-output-smd-tm1f.html to automate them. After beveling the edges of this piece of acrylic, i sanded the edges down from 100 all the way to a wet sand @ 600. I planned on doing a flame polish but forgot....i still can any time and probably will once i run the wires. But it looks good the way it is too Of course it needs a logo. We did the RF logo on the box so i didn't wanna do another one on the rack....perfect spot for the SMD logo. 4 screws with a nice allen head on them look as good as they work. Seats drop down with TONS of room to spare. The fans will ensure the chamber gets plenty of air.

Thanks to Jay next door for layin' down the paint! Came out just like i envisioned it would the grey is color matched perfectly! this is NOT the amp rack i built for that most recent video, this is a new one. Very similar though. Only the face of this box will be seen and ONLY when he takes the screen off. But i still wanted it to look right if he does. High gloss black then a stencil, then a semi (low) gloss grey to match the plastic panels painted over the top. Once the decal is removed you are left with this.

So my small story starts with the ordering of an X12 speaker. I ordered it through SSAaudio.com and they also have outstanding c/s. Anyways I placed my order on August 10th and right after the speaker was shipped out I found an excellent Saz 2000d for the great price of $350 shipped. I then wanted to go for the Zv4. I got in contact with Aaron from SSA and he said I could re route the X12 back to them and they'd invoice me the difference, which I did and it went smoothly. Fast forward a month and I have my precious Zv4 12 and I must say it is one badass looking speaker. I had everything ready for it and popped it in my truck and wow I was impressed, coming from two alpine type rs in a prefab I knew I'd see a big difference but oh boy I was in love. Two days later I found 3 or 4 spots where the surround was separating from the frame/basket. I posted on here and Jacob replied within 30 minutes and told me a call tag would be sent and I would be sent a replacement once my speaker got back to NC. I live in western Canada so I drive down to WA to pick everything up. Shit happens I know that so I told them to send it to my WA address and I'd go down and pick it up. It's a 5 hour round trip and costs me $70 bucks in gas, but like I said shit happens and that was no issue. Fast forward another two weeks and I get my replacement Zv4 12 (it is now Thursday October 24th), super excited to get the bass going. I open the box and instantly inspect the surround and it was missing glue again but this time a whole strip about 8 inches in circumference along with two other spots. I emailed them right away and got a response from Brandon who apologized and said everything would be made right. Brandon informed me he was staying late that night (Thursday Oct 24th) and building me a new one and it would be shipped out the next day. He also sent a call tag for the Zv4 I had. Sure enough the speaker was shipped out Friday morning at 7am. Fast forward 7 DAYS LATER (today) and I have my Zv4 12 which is glued perfectly and has no issues. I also got a lanyard, T shirt, and beer koozie. Although this was a lengthy process it was flawless and smooth. Considering I live over 3000 miles away from their shop in NC I couldn't be more pleased with the shipping times and build times. ***For those wondering I was informed that the glue was drying too quick for one of the builders and that is why it was missing glue, the issue has been fixed.*** A special thanks goes out to Jacob, Brandon, and Bryan for providing me with excellent service and communication throughout the process.

The tool is done and the very first unit rolled out of the mold yesterday. I will have a sample to play with next week !!! This one is currently patent pending (our 8, 10, 12, and 15 are already patented) -- ETA for full stock will be Jan-Feb of 2015. This frame is ~8.3" tall, supports 6" p-p excursion, and up to a 12" spider (also have 10" and 9.25" landings)... it weighs in at 10-11 lbs (I'll weigh it myself when it gets here). I will finally be comfortable making TEAM 18s at that point. The main bolt pattern is a new, bigger pattern for coils larger than 4" in diameter. For all current designs we have a cast aluminum adapter piece that attaches to the base for a standard 127mm bolt pattern. All current products will still use a 10" spider and current surround sizes -- future motors that support the additional throw allowed by the basket will move up to the 12" spider landing at that time and will also receive a newly tooled surround to mate up to that (no ETA to announce yet for that). Anyway... it's been a long time coming; enjoy the photos!

Well.... If you think about it like this. If someone that was a friend of a friend or not a very close friend but someone you were cool with. And they brought you that car to do what you did to it. I wouldn't think it would be unreasonable for you to be willing to sell it for (car value + equipment + fair labor + materials = sale cost) You don't hear shops telling guys they won't put rims on their car because it will be worth more then the car, or a mechanic saying that the $500 in tires your putting on it is worth more then the tarcel or something. But thats the custom / aftermarket world we live in. Im sure as long as its not OVER msrp on all products, and its not some crazy number per hour for labor (like $500 an hour or something), and your not adding years of sentimental value for no clear reason then i don't see a problem with asking for what is a fair trade for the car as it sits. Just my thoughts. On another note, anyone who got the "Meade-Me-Downs" on any of your vehicles would have a pretty sweet ride.

my shop is nothing special....compared to some of the guys i know. It basically aint shit. But i like it. It's cozy, has 2 offices, a lift and plenty of room for my cars. And a ping pong table. I'm happy thanks!

Some photos mocked up to a TEAM motor along with the bolt pattern adapter in place: In the future bigger motors will have the bigger 8-bolt pattern on them in addition to the 127mm pattern; so we'll only need to use the adapter on 3" coil motors. But the adapter ensures we can mate this frame up to any of our existing motors on the market.

I always giggle when someone tries to critique Steve's work. Not saying you can't always learn something new (sure even Steve would admit that) but the average keyboard warrior on FB doesn't know enough car audio to lace up Steve's shoes.

That does indeed look impressive. At 300-400w thats pretty stout too.. I guess it just comes down to what you need. At roughly the same price area as say sa8s or an e series woofer heck even a sd series or a used sa.. itd be hard to justify imo if you had space to get a 6.5 as opposed to an sd 12 or something. But boy would this do wonders for all those people with next to no space at all. Or something looking for a tiny install. I understand theres got to be alot of $ invested into all the r&d for this.., but it say you could purchase these for 70 bux or something thatd be like holy crap selling like hot cakes or something. Maybe if I did a wall with like 50 of these we could arrange a price break lol. Good stuff.

Just put the 6.5" done caps over all the flat caps
