    Rockford Fosgate Punch were prolly my first I heard ever (someone else's vehicle). My first subs I ever owned were the "DVC" then later some "POWER" close to the same era 1998'ish

    Were old PPI flat piston subs just shallow mount or a different purpose?

      Those PPI cones were a very stiff honeycomb-like design. I think it was for a very rigid cone which wouldnt deform like a normal cone could...

      Definitely not shallow mount, they were full bore subs.
