Well I already got one and the cosmetics on it are not exactly nice so I was going to just clean it and make it look like a newer d3100.

My pully is already too small. It's causing belt slip at idle.. I need an alternator that can make more power. With out belt slip it does 117amps at idle at 172amps revving.

For instance. The dc270xp does 190amps at idle and it has a stock size pully that will slip much less but the unit itself makes more power with out requiring it to have a crazy small pully.

Werd. I ment for that EVENT. But yep, the smaller you go, the less area the less it will stay in contact. Your right. Just time for a new alt. if I was was you I'd do a hair pin/6phase. It's exactly what you need.

Thanks guys! Im kinda wondering if my car would do good in meca because of how low I peak. I have done ZERO testing. All i did was threw my seats and visors forward and closed my air vents. Did a 80-25hz sweep at half volume. They said between 30 and 35hz I started at 30 doing full tilt burps skipping trace from 30-35. So i think my peak is 33 or 34.

Some seem accurate, but since iirc they detect clipping from rail voltage, they are generally not right. Set with an oscope or dd-1 and fuck the red clip light.

That's also what I've seen around. Someone good with amps can you explain the rail voltage thing?

Useless, if you don't hear or see any stress then it doesn't matter that you are clipping.

after i thought it was coil rub, took the subs out. gave them a GOOD bit of power. almost 2 inches of excursion later and 4 straight songs i determined they were fine. Reinstalled and the squeak is back. ERGGG dafuq.

also remember, I went from a 2500 at 14.4 volt amp.. (maybe less, never proven on dyno).. to a 3900+ at 14.4 volt amp that has a cousin that passed the dyno with flying colors. That could account for the 13.7 to 12.8 voltage drop difference.

Working on the electrical thing. I gotta get a cold air intake to make under hood room. And then a CCA to OFC conversion along with a Deka to XS power conversion with a DC power 270XP should get some better voltage. I hope.....

I have a "270" Tenney a D3400 and 3 D3100.... I think my sk2500 will be good a .5 till I get a second one lol

I was holding 12.0 with same electrical as now with Skar 2500 at .5, bad ground, and CCA. Found amazing ground. Held 13.8.. Then upgraded ct2500 at .5 and was back down to 12.4... Then OFC and Xs power got me back to 13.7... Grounds ftw.

Well I'm in Texas. He is in PA. But the alternator broke legit the first Time. The company blamed it on him having too big of a bass amp for the 170amp alternator they built. But they replaced. Now it's happening again and charging on and off... Just trying to research other option for him incase the company doesn't want to refund. He wants a refund since this has happened twice in 2 months.

So this is an HO alt?

Yeah, I had an alt in my taurus that went out for no reason, turns out they say 1/1000 is just built bad, and needs to be replaced. It was a stock one they replaced at the dealer, so no charge. But I would bet they will be much more hesitant to cover any H/O alt....

I think maybe it's time you start to learn to do your own stuff. Just sayin, I don't trust anyone to touch my car, thus no anxiety of worrying about if someone else fucks it up or did it wrong. if I fuck it up, or do it wrong, I chalk it up to a learning experience and learn from my mistakes. I mean if you know enough to know what's done right and no right, then why are you going to others to have your stuff built? Just something to think about.

Only thing i dont trust yet is my box building skills. Another BHE box should do it justice. Id like to learn one day. But I dont have the tools to do my own and i dont have the concrete knowledge of I GOT THIS SHIT in me yet. Ill have to mess up a box or two before i get decent im sure. But until i get the equipment, ill have to just get boxes built and do the rest myself.

Sure it gives me a job, but sometimes being a semi informed member of the audio community it's hard to have to sell them what's on our floor not what's best for them and their pocket. Good thing im just an installer.

Anyone ever try a stud adapter kit? The threads they seem fucked up the most are near the bottom.

Try using a self taping screw. Stainless. Use same length as XS Power screw.

Could I re use the same self tapping screw if I had to take the posts in and out? I don't do it every week but I don't think this is the last time I'll touch my rear battery
