this shit is fun - i love the suspense of watching you guys guess...knowing if someone hits, it's gonna cost me a few hundred $$. Totally worth it though Ill do more testing i promise but i gotta keep the amps smaller or get a bigger power supply. My pocket book has to get bigger or get a bigger "supply" first though cuz this shit isn't cheap thanks to all who participated! to the noobs - stay friendly, make some friends, learn some shit, stay a while!

As many of you know, i am working on my DGAF Toyota Tercel project...and i just received my DC Audio 9.0k amps a couple of days ago. Although i have a very limited power supply on my test bench, i still wanted to see how much power i could get out of this amp. Since i am going to be using a 16v (Charging @ 18v) system, these numbers are relevant to my project. Only 3 XS Power D1600's and a 15a XS Power HF1615 intellicharger keeping them fresh between runs. I designed my test bench to handle 1000-2500 max (at most). The big amps SUCK the life out of the 3 batts. So if the numbers are not good enough for you, keep in mind i am going to have a LOT more batteries (in the Tercel) and at least one HO alternator. This is Amp test tuesday but it is NOT a definitive result. It is just for fun and YOU can draw your own conclusions from it. First of all. Who wants to play a game? I did 5 tests. Guess the TOTAL number combined (add all 5 together) to come up with one large number for your guess. Winner gets a DC Audio Level 3 12" woofer. If someone gets within 100 watts of the number i am looking for, i will send you an SMD hat and some stickers. This is all on me...not even a DC promotion at all. They are MY amps, i just wanna have some fun and if one of you guesses the number, i don't mind kicking down a nice little prize for your effort and attention tonight Anyway, here we go... I only snapped one picture of this but it was so damn cool i had to share it. The guys at Gearhead Garage here in Sacramento are one of my dealers and today they brought in a hold down they had made for one of their projects. from head to toe, inside and out, they do some of the nicest work out there. It's a 9,000W amp. Combine the wattage from 5 tests and express it in Wattage. It should at least be in the 45,000 Watt range.

I honestly think the amp test Tues. Is your best idea for vids. And it shows what good amps are all about. And we all love games. Total number, Id say that amp can reach 12K on high voltage so. 57,500 all tests combined

The wildcard here are the dynamic tests. Less stress on the battery bank and that amp is a monster at .8.

Probably, yes. It's one of the strongest stamped frames I've had my hands on / is not expensive and it works great for the clearances I want.

Did some heavier abuse testing yesterday. Ended up breaking the solder joint from the tinsel lead wires to voice coil lead at the neck joint on one side -- but did not actually break the neck joint or thermal the coil. Had it up around 550-700 watts clamped at the point of my testing before that failure occurred. These samples have tied-on leads and actually the "floating" leads would have prevented this type of failure as it was a result of excessive forward stroke tugging the tied lead out of the hole it passed through -- and of course I was doing 550-700 free air on a 300-watt rated driver anyway so I can't say I am disappointing Either way I have some Rev.2 prototypes in the works to address the high Qts and a few other minor things I want to improve. I have been spending alot of time as well making sure I can still offer them for the $60-70 range or VERY close to it
