you have your bass up too high..and your turning the HU volume up too high..causing distortion..that's why its clipping and blowing the speakers I am currently just running mids/highs off HU like you...my HU goes to 35 max volume...I cant go past 22/35 right now without noticeable distortion..so I wont take my volume over 20/35 to avoid risk of damaging the speakers...I am just going by ear as I have yet to put my 4channel/sub stages in yet.. like ranger is saying..turn off bass boost.."loud" and turn your bass and treble down..

i would personally try to keep the subs sealed forward from trunk and go with 12s or 15s if you have the heighth and space to do them...i had 2 15s sealed forward that was pretty loud in its day..and it cuts down a ton on ass rattle...subs blowing up into trunk lid will sound like shit IMO

if your blowing mids with a HU..i highly doubt you should be trying to hook up amps/subs until you do alot more learning on here..to be honest

sealing it off from the trunk forward is really the key to the gains of facing forward...as well it cuts down a ton on ass rattle.. use some cardboard as templates to make pieces to seal it off.. as for tuning lower because facing forward I can say I have never heard that..but doesnt sound like a bad idea to test out if you can make an interchangeable port...

love Preludes...they get slept on alot by people...i have a guy in my neighborhood that has a Prelude with Integra front end swap..with the late 90s 4 round headlights Integra front on it..and it looks badass...very well done not some hack job like most conversions I have seen... not to be a smartass...but who the hell hasn't heard of a Prelude?

i just ran your dims through torres calc and got tuning of 48.97hz...is this what you where aiming for? 21x34x22 box dims 15x6x6 port dims 1 common port wall sub up port up sub disp. .25 1 extra baffle .1 bracing 90inch port area 14.97 in port per ft 6.01 cubes 48.97hz I am not the best with torres calc but seems a bit high tuned IMO

use cardboard to make templates to cut mdf to cover all your gaps..its a pretty easy to do...i had 2 15s sealed forward in a 94cavalier hitting 148.4 sealed on the dash..this was with 2 kicker comp 15s and a PPI 2350 back in 1998..that was hella loud for 1998 in the trunk.. i think you would get the sound your looking for by sealing it entirely from the trunk

mixing brands of subs is HILLBILLY...

just get 412 CVX or Ram Designs to design you something..4th order can be done and has been done in trunk of mustangs so should just be a question of getting it designed for you to build it and see how it works for you

DD1 is nearly a required tool at this stage of the game... why not just lower the gain..raise ohm load on the amps or go to a single amp at 1ohm...those would be the first things i would do to be honest your taking advice on how to protect your investment as rude...really?...why even ask for help if you wont take the advice of these veteran installers... i dont plan on having half the money invested in amps/subs as yours are worth and I will for sure invest in a DD1...to make sure my measily system is protected

Get the Skar deal bro...u have seen their 600rms speakers taking double that power...they are damn good for the price...newer company trying to make a name for themselves....honestly if your not too knowledgeable they Skar sub/box/amp are your best way to go...you give them dimensions if your trunk and they build the box to fit it perfect for their subs...
