Our prior unit had extensive supplier issues to the point where we've just had to write off all of that work and tooling. In any event... I decided to re-visit the X-8 idea and base it on our SA-8 v.2 frame tooling. The first challenge was to make a GREAT spider for a 2.5" coil on an 8" woofer... which is difficult and we used extensive software optimization before tooling. Fortunately our basket allows a spider about 10mm wider than pretty much all other 8" frames out there. Since the spider is the main challenger we had that tooled first and then built up a test bed to test with : * Former was too tall / big in diameter for the SA-8 dust cap to work so I had to use an SA-12 dust cap; which came all the way out to glue onto the surround edge. * SA-12 Motor * We had an adapter machined to mount the motor; I decided to have some extras made for some brave DIY folks that may want to make a similar project. * There is the beastly new spider tooling -- this thing worked great ! I was able to test the X-8 spider with an SA-12 motor / coil and SA-8 v.2 cone and surround. The X-8 will have it's own unique motor, cone, and surround for production. Those parts aren't done yet and I wanted to test the spider so we built it like this for now I am very pleased with the spiders excursion capacity and linearity. I will get some Klippel measurements done on it soon as well to verify... my "push the cone Klippel" indicates that the spider has a very linear compliance to it for quite a bit of travel in both directions -- anxious to see the actual plots All of the computer optimization on this spider definitely paid off with the result.

OK GUYS, sorry for the delay! it is up and running but it still needs to be optimized for this site. We are planning on shutting down tomorrow around 7:30am and will be back on when.......we are back on. LOL

It will be very strong thermally ; ahead of the current SA-10/12/15 woofers. We are doing our best mechanically as well ; we spent alot of time and energy on the spider and the surround is also a new tool just for this driver.

You need to learn to understand the situation before commenting; especially if you want to voice your opinion so strongly -- I suggest YOU wake the fuck up if you want to use that language -- the dB-R warranty on HIS repair work has nothing to do with OUR warranty on our product; as I stated on the CACO thread. This deal has nothing to do with Sundown and SMD; dB-R is their own company and repair for many other brands as well. I have no issue with Steve and his products and I can only imagine there is some sort of user error going on with any problems -- Chris has his own opinions and he doesn't work for us or represent our opinions; we pay him to repair our products and he does it well; that is the extent of it.

i took a short glance at that thread again, against my better judgement, and wow, they got some nerve. Talking about how Tony's last job was at Boss and how he only made a shitty amp with lots of caps in it. What a bunch of moron's. Don't forget, Tony AND Juan were both engineers at RF for years. Thats ROCKFORD FOSGATE for those that don't know what RF means. Lets not talk about how the T15k is probably, if not THE cleanest, most powerful class AB car amp ever made. It is a product way ahead of its time and came at the peak of the economy taking a shit. Hence the reason so many at RF were let go. Tony needed a job and got paid very good at Boss. We worked our ASSES OFF to bring this product to market and with the success of it, they were able to quit and dedicate all their time to their own company. We are car audio NUTS and we make products we know others like us will love and we CARE about quality and customer service. After 1 1/2 years of sales, I have 100% ratings on ebay, amazon and also wcCarAudio. If someone's amp blew because of our product we would be ALL OVER IT.... if amps were blowing from the DD-1, after selling WORLD WIDE, to every country on the planet, don't you think we would know about it? I think we would be slightly concerned.

So if the amp blows for users errors while usin a scope, then it's ok?

For the technical people, we're running on a Pentium 4 with 2.8GHZ with Hyper Threading.. now we're moving to a 3.5Ghz e3-1270-V2 Ivy Bridge with HT so we're getting 6 more processors than we already have... it's gonna be fast

Just unloaded them after lunch; we'll start shipping pre-orders tomorrow. I am really pleased with how they turned out. I wanted to see them before starting more production -- and we sold about 75% of what we got -- so there will be a period of out-of-stock on them; but we should have steady stock starting after the 2nd run !

I can neither confirm not deny that rumor............ But it damn sure wouldn't surprise me!
